I am going to take the plunge and get the OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB SSD and I have a few questions that hopefully one of you can answer :)

Currently I run XP but I will also be planning on installing Win7 soon and I was wondering if it is advisable to partition a SSD drive (15gb XP and the rest to Win7) as over the next few months I will be using Win7 more and more. I have read about needing to have quite a lot of free space hence why I am leaving 45GB for Windows 7. Does anyone think that this will be a problem that would affect the life of the drive as I intend to use XP for a couple of months yet and will require access to it from time to time after I have migtated to Win7.

I am assuming that the drive that I have mentioned above is the best value for money about £90. Are there any others that I should consider?

Thanks in advance :)

For the time being personally,i would keep Windows Xp on your old HDD, Use a trial version of Windows7 on the SSD, then enter a serial when you have bought a copy. Windows 7 will automatically align the SSD correctly, just remember to set your Controller to AHCI before installing for best performance. :)

60GB is quite small mind you, can you stretch to 120gb? I have around 40gb free on mine at the moment with a few STEAM games installed and apps etc.

Or depending on what version of W7 you get and if your hardware is capable of it, you can always run WinXP via W7 emulation. When I did this previously the XP machine vhd took about 1GB (without any apps installed really).
