Hi,

I am looking at getting one of these SSD drives (Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB) from OcUK.

I am using a Gigabyte EP45-DS3P and was wondering if it is worth it, due to running in SATA 2 mode.

Is their any problem with this and will I notice a performance increase? I will be running Windows 7 64BIT.

Thanks!

You will, in reality, only notice the the difference in benchmarks. For normal use, you should notice a massive difference. Becides, SATA 2 is 3Gb/s so thats 357MB/s. The maximum speed for the crucial is 355MB/s right? I see no problems there

Oh my bad then. I based mine on the principle that 3Gbps/8 = 375000000B/s
375000000/(1024+1024)= 357MB/s

I guess it will be slower in reality. But still 285MB/s vs 355 will be unnoticable in reallife

Everything loads MUCH faster. Windows for example, with my F3, a pretty fast hdd, the desktop would appear but be pretty unresponsive to anything for 10-15secs if not more before I could load up firefox for example. with my ssd, the moment the desktop appears, its 100% responsive and will load progs near on instantly without pausing to think. Getting to the desktop is also a bit quicker. Also use it for FSX and textures load much faster so a lot of stuttering in game has been eliminated.
