Ok so i am RAIDing my two SSDs tomorrow, i have one already in my computer that stores my OS and i have a secondary hard drive for games. If i do a backup of my C drive (SSD) and then restore it once i raid my two ssds, will it work?

Logically in my head i think it will work but i want your guys opinion, Thanks :D

It may work as it's still seen as one logical volume. But any kind of installations like that i always recommend a fresh install.

It wont work because your original windows install won't have the raid drivers installed, and to install them you have to set to raid first in bios and do clean windows install

There is a reg tweak you can do to fool windows into installing the raid drivers, then backup your windows install, setup raid, restore windows to the raid array

Google on how to do the reg tweak it works because I did it to get caching to work

In the Windows\System32\Drivers folder is a filecalled iaStorV.sys installed by OS by default.

Into the registry we go.

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\iaStorV

Change REG_DWORD "Start" from 3 to 0

Reboot

Go into the BIOS and changeSata Configured To to RAID

Windows should boot as normal, no lockups or BSOD's and you should see it installing Device Drivers followed by Device Installed Successfully

Backup your game files and whatever else and do a fresh install, the regedit tweak works as I've done it myself but makes sense to have a fresh system when installing onto RAID for the sake of not running into errors.
