So I just got the SSD in the topic and as it's my first SSD I just want to make sure the settings are "optimal". I only know to run Samsung SSD Magician and here's the screenshot the settings, I've tuned to it's recommendations just want to be 100% sure they're optimal giving my past luck with such things :p Also not sure why it's showing "Non AHCI mode" in the bottom-left, already having set to AHCI from IDE (which was default) in BIOS. I've also heard something about "trim", is that something I should be looking at for this SSD?

Is it definitely set to AHCI for that controller? (may be different from the default controller, have a look through and make sure it's set to AHCI)

load up as ssd benchmark to see if its in ahci mode,it will show green text=good if it is and red text=bad if its in ide mode

trim will be enabled automatically in win7/8

it fools windows into installing the ahci drivers, otherwise you have to re install windows/set to ahci and install windows again

all it does is put a 0 instead of a 1 in the reg file for ahci driver installation,it can be reversed and wont damage anything, used it lots of times

Ok :) Just to confirm, I should do this even though I also have a normal mechanical drive installed as well? :)

Scotteh, not sure what you mean?

I think hes in ide mode,in performance benchmark above hes only seeing 250 mb read/write that's sata2 speeds or poor ide slow mode

what board are you using afran?

Yup ^ I have the Gigabyte H55M-UD2H and seems I misread his previous post as "load as ssd benchmark", as in I read it like "load magician as ssd benchmark" :P

keep all files in one folder and run it,then itll be in English,it will looklike this in green writing if its in ahci mode

Ah ok well can see that text even in Dutch, like yours it's green where it says "1024 K - OK" but there is "pciiide - BAD" in red

also wtf you have a 1863gb ssd?

yh you need to run the reg file I posted above(run it now while in ide mode/reboot into bios/set to ahci/save/exit)

and I wish 1tb ssd:eek: its my 1tb hdd:(
