Hi guys,

I know there have been lots of threads like this here so I apologise in advance for that, but I cant find all the info im after. Ive finally taken the SSD plunge and got a G.Skill Falcon 128GB, its exactly the same drive as the OCZ Vertex with 1370 firmware loaded.

So my main question is how should I run my SATA controller, ive only got one so ive got no need of RAID and will running ACHI be of any benefit over just plain IDE?

Also if anyone can be bothered to re-iterate (or link me to a decent guide which im struggling to find myself) for me the basic tweaks I need to do on vista 64 to get the best performance I would be hugely grateful.

Thanks very much guys,

Hey Guys,

I really appreciate all your help, ive got my SSD infront of me, and im going to align it but I was wondering what offset I should use, different guides say different things and I dont want to get this bit wrong. Im not using RAID BTW.

Thanks

Yes i did use Diskpar - followed the instruction on this OCZ Forum post here.

Had mine in RAID so also needed the driver avail but you should be ok for that with a single drive.:)

hey all,

Just wanted to say thanks again for all your help, ive got it up and running (for some reason W7 RC1 doesnt want to install, i think its a bad burn) on vista x64 and its flying along, getting peak reads of 252mb/s and writes of 192mb/s on ATTO and no degredation so far, ill post some screens later on when ive got it up and running a bit further.
