Yep used to get this all the time, just set a static and your gtg

Still got it even with a static IP and 1Gbps set manually in driver config. Have now put another user account on, so it boots up with the login screen. Not ideal, but not sure what else I can do.

Motherboard is SB, router is BT Homehub 2.

Connection from Home Hub is:

Home Hub 2 > Powerline ethernet plug > Powerline ethernet plug > 1Gbps switch > Motherboard.

The home hub is 100Mbps itself so perhaps there is a delay between the powerline adaptors, the switch and the home hub?

I used to have this problem, moving to Windows 8 consumer preview however seems to solve it.
I've got the hotmail sign on thing too, might be worth checking out.

So it's not DHCP causing the delay because you aren't using DHCP now, so it's probably the Windows networking services not starting early enough or being delayed in starting.
