SSD VS SATA

Hi all, how much quicker is a ssd to a sata2?

I'm looking at the OCZ 60GB Vertex Plus SSD and trying to compare the 185MB per second Read Speed but normal sata drives have a different way of factorising speed?

My board (Asus p5q pro) does not suppoort sata 3 I don't think. Its it worth going from a sata2 mech. drive to a sata 2 ssd or just wait until I upgrade the board next?

thanks thats a good idea, I did not realise they are backwards compatible.

Could you please recommend one, 60gb minimum, 120 preferred
