I'm building a new PC: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18089582

Is it worth buying a SSD? Is the difference in performance noticeable in day to day operations? If it's only apparent in benchmarks it really doesn't seem worth spending the extra money.

My PC is primarily going to be used for gaming, obviously most games nowadays are too big to realistically run off a SSD anyway.

So, is it worth it?

The biggest bottleneck in your system is the HDD, so an SSD is a Big improvement. You don't need a benchmark to see and feel the difference.
As for games, well, your better off putting them on a HDD and saving the SSD just for windows and apps such as office etc, so if you generally use the pc Just for games, then perhaps the cost is not worth it for you at the moment.

i was like you, but bit the bullet last week and got the intel... if you know and use a pc you will see a difference, my windows7 rating is 7.8 on the intel and it loads word up like a window rather than an application, lightning quick, i have my old WD500 with music and video on, everything else surprisingly fits on the 80gig.... well worth it for me
