Just wondering would i see much of an improvement in wow fps installed along with my os on a ssd?

FPS wouldnt really change, but your load times in WoW would be mega improved. For example, on a mechanical - you log into Dalaran, and it will take a good minute or so for you to see the npc's and people, and they only appear one by one, slowly.

On an SSD, you log in, and immediately everyone pops around you.

It's really nice

Thats just what i wanted thx :) 120gb ok for os and wow and some space for patches ? or would i get away with smaller

120gb SSD for WoW and OS is well enough....i got it installed on my Intel X25-M 80gb with about 28gb free and yes it makes a huge difference on loading infact WoW is probably the most beneficial i've seen so far out of 10 games or so i've tried on it.(this is without Catacylsm install which is 7gb or so more.)

I have the 80Gb and with wow and os and SC2 I very nearly ran into an issue patching to 4.0.1, it was creating temp files as it ran and my 20Gb spare dropped to under 1GB, I was just about to ninja delete SC2 when it rocketed back up.

A few friends had the install fail due to lack of disk space and had to delete stuff and patch again.

As said for logging into very busy places an SSD and WOW = awesome, normal zoning, raiding etc you will see limited diff compared to a fast HDD.

Pre Cata my WoW folder was around 20gb. After Cata, it was around 20gb.

Delete the patches in your C://.../World of Warcraft/Patches folder when they're installed, as you no longer need them.

The reason the patching process required so much is because it duplicates your wow folder into the new 'stream data while you play' system, then deletes the old data.

I always move my patches to an old HDD and keep them incase I want to do a full reinstall. Looks more difficult to do now though :(

Yes the WOW install goes back down in size but there is nothing to say it wont do the same again in future so I would make sure you expect to have a good 20Gb free or you could run into issues in the future.

As a side note, anyone seen a way to clean WOW now, the wowcheck utility seems to have lost all its funtionality and I want to try to sort my water issue without a full reinstall :(

I just copied wow folder to a larger drive, patched and copied back.
No problem at all.

on 60gb I got os,wow and bfbc2, about 5gb spare after all the other needed software nowadays.

Only a pain if you want lot of mp3 or movies or pics on it too I guess.
