SSHD

Hi guys.

One of my friends is a photograph and is wanting some extra storage for his computer. He wants 1tb but for it to be fast . Would a SSHD be a good option? I have never used one before.

You should try some real friends, they are a bit more demanding though.

An SSHD isn't a lot of use for mass storage. The SSD cache is used to store frequently accessed blocks so unless you're always hitting the same handful of GBs then they're no faster than mechanical disks.

1TB SSDs aren't too expensive these days.

As said SSHD only really benefit if hitting the same data.

For a regular HDD Western Digital Blacks are reliable and fast (relative to regular HDD speeds of course). These should be perfect for photo editing.
