We celebrate it because of guilt about the potato famine? I'm confused.

My friends have gone on a pub crawl and then to a party afterwards but I'm suffering from really bad back ache and sleepyness so im resting with a cup of tea and reading over microanatomy - perhaps the most boring part of medicine ever.
