I think £7k is a good price point really, paying much more than that starts to induce diminishing returns, paying less is ok ...but I wouldn't go pre-facelift ...the first-face lift is the important one, the second one, is just cosmetic really and nice to have I suppose.

I think if I was going to have another one, I would go with the light grey leather seats and I would ideally want xenons. But at the end of the day, I wouldn't get too hung up on the extras, none of them really change the car. I suppose once you've had xenon lights you wouldn't want to go back ...but they are fairly rare on these so tricky to make an absolute. The nav just makes the dash look better really, it isn't all that good at all and is just a nice toy to have ...it's not important ...at least I don't think so.

lol, this thread has taken a minor tangent :)

Ideally id like the grey one, but there arent many around. Sat nav i can easily do without, have never used xenons so not sure what i could be missing.

Id never jump at the first one anyway, its all just a research exercise at this point. But it being within walking distance has peeked my interest more than usual :)

Id say 7k is a good price.

its a great example. The onyl time id buy one though is if i needed a car bigger then my mk7 zetec-s fiesta.

Which could be in a few years time, they will be a steal by then!!

Why do you have to have a need for a bigger car? Is the fact its a better car than your fiesta in every possible way not enough for You?

Didn't someone here get one for the upper end of £4k?

Yeah that was me (got it for 4260)! Mechanically the car is excellent, it has a couple of minor scratchs (of which 90% will polish out with a detail I think) and the jacking point covers needed respraying. Just had its service and they didn't pick up on anything. It could use new discs/pads on the front and pads on the rear, but that didnt worry me too much since ill be doing that myself for about £150 all in.

Some points though, I agree with the sat nav comments, It wasnt an essential option for me so I wasnt specifically looking for one with it, but since the one I bought had sat nav (and parking sensors which are actually nice also!) Ive found it makes the dash look a lot more refined and the touch screen is excellent, really glad mine has it. Mine also has the grey leather, which I think is a lot nicer than the black (and quite rare!), It has the rear entertainment pack as well, but ive not had a fiddle with it yet. The only option I really wanted was Xenons, however there was a grand total of two I could find at the time in the entire country with them fitted, and they wanted 7k+ for a 2004 :/

Ive put about 1000 miles on mine in the last couple weeks and its been fantastic, still love the engine and exhaust note ;) Still meaning to take some pictures but im moving at the moment and its been chaotic!

Haha, didn't you used to try and defend yourself?

People always called it defending myself, but from my point of view I saw nothing that I needed to 'defend'. I was just arguing / discussing / putting forward my point of view.

As soon as anyone argues with people about a buying decision on this forum, it sometimes seems that you're either being defensive or have massive buyer's remorse.

Nowadays it's just going over old ground and a bit pointless, so my new tactic is to bat it away with a humble tone. Still happy to have the same debate though. I love arguing anyway :D.

Bah, went to have a look but its not in the showroom. He'd have to get it from "The Compound" :)
