Stag Do - Blackpool

Blackpool is funny , if thats what you want , cheap women up for a laugh. Place where anything goes you don't have to worry about making to much noise.

If you want bit more of a classy night go elsewhere casue you won't find itin blackpool which is why I like it for a change.

York is good night out where I live but it can get a poncy :o

Hmmm. I don't see how people can call Blackpool such a dive when they are basing their opinions on their x number of days visiting. I live here and I think its ok. No worse then some places I have been.

Its a bit insulting really - when you say "dive" - to me, its bascially saying everyone that live there are dossers, and I am one of them. So ... i am going to boo now.

I guess if you are only here one night - and its ** stag do, ** gonna be so wasted u wont know whats going on - and pretty much anywhere is going to be good. From a locals point of view, them 2 places are naff.

Alc, what kind of things do u have in mind?

Erm, commercial music - rnb, dance, garge - that type of music, decent looking birds and cheap booze lol. Im 21 and a bit of a townie (shut it!!)

Oh you'll love everywhere in Blackpool then :) Go anywhere and u'll have fun. In the day time, dunno really.

Check the pleasure beach out? Go swimming at le Sandcastle, or just start at South Shore end of the promenade, and just do a massive long pub crawl up to the north promenade, thats where the night life is and where u wanna be ending :)

Scrap all of the above negativity, you'll love it! Sorry :o ;)

The outdoor karting (Karting 2000 iirc) it pretty good. South from the piers.

TBH i agree with Stuppy - i used to go to Blackpool as a kid 20 + years ago
and i loved the place then. When you visit it you only see the tourist places etc.

After living there it totally changed my opinion. I love the place and could quite easliy see me living there in the future, its not all about amusments and dirty sea ;)

If you look a bit harder and at some of the other places apart from the seafront you will see there are some nice places - Bispham, Kirkham , poulton le fylde etc

Hey all, I live close enough to Blackpool (Poulton le fylde), which is about 3 miles out. I have seen a lot of changes in Blackpool over the years and I pretty much agree with all your comments. Thing is though, your going for a stag weekend and that is pretty much all Blackpool is good for. So yes it is a 'hole' but you can still have a great time their especially on a Stag Do, lets face it you can do the Pleasure Beach, Bowling, Piers & Arcades during the day then get completely lashed at night.

If your going for two nights... try Poulton Le Fylde on maybe the Saturday night. It's only £5 in a cab, it has about 8ish pubs/bars and 2 pretty decent night clubs. A lot of locals just wont go into B'pool during the season (maybe once a year in my case) but rather go to Poulton as it's a cracking night out & you dont feel like your gonna get knifed around every corner.

Getting knifed? Of the hundreds of times Ive been out in Blackpool, I have never once had any kind of fear of getting knifed. I think you would have to walk down a very dark and distant alley for that to happen.

And Poulton... is alright - but its way too overcrowded. I go in the Golden Ball on a Friday night and its rammed. Poulton is way too low key for a Stag Do. Stick to Blackpool's town centre and you won't go wrong.
