True but the car is getting on a bit in terms of wear and tear, I don't think they're the best built cars in the first place.its 12yrs old....its not a victorian times vehicle.
Even the diesel engines made 20 years ago were pretty reliable. Modern engines are silly reliable excluding the idiotic wet belts.True but the car is getting on a bit in terms of wear and tear, I don't think they're the best built cars in the first place.

I once mapped a PD 130 Golf using a Black Smoke map and Chinese MPPS cable for flashing it. That PD had 240k on the clock at the point of flashing and was still going at 300k.![]()
since when is 80k miles high?..... i bet theres people on here with cars double that mileage.A friend has a similar car to the OP and it's got issues, think it had the gearbox replaced just after it was bought (second hand car but covered by warranty by some miracle!) and now some bushes etc.
It's just something to be mindful of, things will be wearing naturally at that age and mileage, add a load more torque and things may will accelerate in more ways than one. It's not a reason not to do it but something to be aware of imo.
Having a quick look online and it seems this car is not immune from gearbox issues, without a remap.
Those old engines were simpler.
It's not particularly high but components can start failing, especially if it's done a lot of short trips or been ragged from cold etc, lots of speedbumps. It's not exactly low mileage either. lots of IFs, Buts and Ors in that comment....It's not particularly high but components can start failing, especially if it's done a lot of short trips or been ragged from cold etc, lots of speedbumps. It's not exactly low mileage either. Plus it is 12 years old.

wow its 12yrs old..... and very well maintained with full mercedes history. I think some people just like picking holes in everything for no reason.

Typically a stage 1 remap is just a remap without the need to change any parts, as you increase power/boost you then need to start improving other parts and head into the next stages... I think. So stage 3 might need a bigger turbo and intercooler.I still have no idea what a stage 1 remap actually is compared to a stage 2 or stage 3.33 or stage 4.75. I presume there must be some standardisation somewhere?
