For once i just hope they ditch the "big fight scene" ending.
Maybe a gun battle sure but i'd much rather a large plan and then enter the NPPC (or some other building) though massive varied anomaly fields with unique artefacts and anomalies etc.
Say there's multiple ways i nlike the game is based i na series of locations i nsort fo a rign around it , for the main quest line you have to find differnt bits of equipment/information and learn the type of anomaly will be on your chosen route (and thus how to get past it)
You could have it so there were conflicting goals ie the access rout from the freedom dominated area may require tech from duty to safely pass meaning you either have to help them take it, steal it or help freedom destroy duty
So you spend the game dipping into the edges of this area and finding what you face (and grabbing the odd artefact only found there but in very difficult places) obviously there could be monolith forces there so a bit of stealth/combat mixed in but nothing silly like the endings of the last games.
(Of course though out the game you can change your chosen route based on your scouting/because of certain factions you want to help rather than destroy.)
Then once you've gotten though you're at the main building of course the route you took will bring you in differnt places so you have different entry points (say 1 for very/between 2 routes in) or you can pick your way around carefully to enter a different route or explore and fine hidden ones.
Then cone you're inside you have to explore the building fighting small groups and avoiding anomalies you've never even heard people mention (or avoiding one specific one from legend) to acquire something special (or simply to explore) perhaps falling foul of C conciousness while there. (ie the artefact you finally pick your way to though the most complex collection of anomalies including ones with very subtle hints you must have learnt to notice though the game) you reach forward and grab the artefact and then have a sort of doomed Indiana jones running from the collapsing temple/big ball as the anomalies fluctuate wildly, as it turns out the artefact kept everything stable, the zone goes haywire and a massive blow-out ensues wiping out everything in the zone (including the player).
Nicely setting up the opportunity for an enterly new faction structure/accessible area structure for the next game, ie you're now one of the first pioneers of the new zone rather than a new comer to a developed one.
of course it won't happen there wil be another dire battle that the game just isn't really made for
Or even worse they'll dumb the combat down and lessen the role of anomalies and make it into a generic FPS.
