I'm about 20hrs into the game and had no problems at all, so I'll be taking a chance and grabbing the expansion as soon as it's released.

^ Agreed. I tried a bunch of ini tweaks/ mods to try improve stuff but I've shelved it for now as I love Stalker games and want to experience this one at its best.

I was thinking about starting this recently but it gets very mediocre reviews.

73 on Metacritic which is quite average.

Do you think this is review scores and not what the game would get now if it launched in current state?

I played it on launch. 20+ hours. It is not as good as it should have been or I was expecting.

That is partly also why I am waiting. I got side tracked with another game and never went back. Then these guys kept talking about RT so I thought ok, I'll wait.

Been like over a year, still waiting...

game engine was crap imo... I have the ultimate edition and apparently played 25hours but I know I didn't get all that far.

game world meh, story meh, engine meh. its all very average imo which is basically what a 7/10 means in reviews these days it's the old 5 or 6

It's "fine" - worth the £23 i paid for it. Couldn't really care less about RT

Not had any crashes unless I added certain mods, few QoL tweaks wouldn't go amiss and seem easy to implement so not sure why they haven't (stamina, weight, gun degredation for example)

Storyline is meh, I'm not really sure why I'm currently doing what I'm doing but exploring is fun.

Visuals are good, 1440p high/epic with FSR3.1 quality as I can't seem to get it to acknowledge FSR 4/4.1

You say you don’t care about RT, is that because you have no choice in the matter?
It’s just that I’ve seen this sentiment before and then when people get a capable gpu, suddenly it’s the best thing ever.

Yes the Visuals are good but good eye candy will not make a good game. Same problem with a lot of games over the last few years. Probably Gpu manufactures pushing their hardware up developers backsides with some free development money. :rolleyes:

Game dependent I think. I find going from one with good RT to one without makes it seem like going back generations.
In a game like this it could make a massive difference so I’d prefer to wait for the proper version too.

You should be aware that the circumstances of the game's development draw politically motivated reviews. The game itself is excellent, though not everyone's cup of tea.

Giving Stalker 2 a rest and playing Crimson Desert in it's place. I am really enjoying my time in the zone, with a handful of mods to help balance the game a bit but the upcoming DLC has made me decide to stop and wait for the new material. Apparently the new DLC plays along side the main quest, so to get the most out of it I'll probably start over, I'm not that far into the game anyway - summer's not far away.

I'm still mostly enjoying the game but I really have no idea what's going on with the storyline. I've just done 'something' with the monolith, some woman called Agatha has shown up, let's see what happens next.

Yeah, the story doesn't stick with me at all. I'm on my 3rd playthru and have a bit of a better understanding, but still mostly fuzzy on the details. When I get those cut-scene explainations it's a real ball-ache that you have to wait thru them.

Didn’t have a clue what was going on, but they nailed the atmosphere like the first and those times when you had to take shelter were truly adrenaline inducing, especially when miles away from anywhere. Would be all over any DLC and curious to see what RT would bring.

After Agatha appeared I went somewhere in the complex, killed some guys for some reason, then went back and forth a bit. Definitely the worst part of the game so far.
