Stalker 2

So what's the consensus on the best difficulty to play on ? What does the difficulty effect ? is it simply a case of you taking more damage or are there less supplies etc ?

Never played a Stalker game before - the opening bit in the tunnel was scary enough.

Note to self, dogs are not your friend in the zone. Nope

Finally downloaded after 3 hours.

I'm on a 7800X3D, 4070 Ti Super, 32GB RAM, 1440p, and I just went with what the game recommended for graphics settings which was Epic across the board, with DLSS and Auto frame generation. I've reduced the motion blur by a lot, and the game looks good and runs well so far. I'm only 40 mins in, so just finished the prologue (up to the Stalker 2 logo). I've capped FPS to 120 and it's going between 75-120, but mostly sitting at 100+. I've not got to any busier areas yet though so realise I'll probably have to compromise some settings at some point.

I like it so far though. Nearly soiled myself getting attacked by some invisible thing. Not entirely sure how everything works so far, but I'm intrigued. Just wish I could play longer, but I have to go to work now.

I'm playing on Stalker difficulty. Not sure about damage etc but devs said the higher the difficulty the less supplies you'll fine.

the positional audio of voices still terrible ? I always wonder whos talking

I thought this also, can't tell where the talking is coming from when walking through settlements

the game seems to spawn enemies around you..

I had a quick save where 3 guys would always come looking for me no matter which way I went, but if I ran towards where they come from nothing would be there.

They just know to look for me too, It might be triggered by a quest but still seems weird.

I think the Stalker difficulty is the best balance, I have enough supplies not to worry too much about getting into too many engagements given the high damage from enemies, with ammo coming just enough.

From what I've read Novice is still tuned quite high, but you will get to a stage where you are overloaded with supplies, Veteran being more frustrating than fun (unless you're into that sort of challenge).

This is what I was talking about earlier, it feels like the game is randomising some encounters (which is fine, it mixes it up a bit), but sometimes it's happening right on top of me after dying and reloading a save, makes you wonder where everybody came from.

It's been acknowledged by GSC that the a-life is broken and needs fixing.

Also I've read mouse acceleration/smoothing is on by default and needs .ini tweaks to turn it off

Thats the Zone for you, normal rules of space and time do not apply :D

The English VA is weirdly toilet, almost deliberately bad, but I'm pretty impressed with the rest of the game. Was expecting it to be gash based on some of the early reviews.

More buggy broken crap at release. Playing on gamepass and I'm seeing silly things that should have been rectified, things like people standing on each other, graphics artifacts, inconsistent performance. Any news on a patch? It looks strange too, I can't put my finger on it.

EDIT......AND WHY ARE THERE PEOPLE WITH BRITISH ACCENTS IN THE WILDERNESS. That is dumb
