STALKER: Call of Pripyat

Yeah i was unlucky enough to be using a the Black Kite (?) Deagle looking weapon in the Iron Forest stash (what is with the stupid positioning of stash's, i couldn't actually pick that gun out without grenading into the cabinet to blow it further forwards) and i think it was the TR assault rifle, so i was using some annoyingly uncommon ammo. And i can't see a big Sniper Rifle having common ammo. Guess i should go on some anomoly runs and see if i can get some decent protective gear.

I like the Sa80 can be re chambered to the common soviet ammo, comes with a scope, takes a silencer and is accurate and powerful :p

snniper rifle ammo ain't the easiest to get (the svd ammo) but the vintar ammo is pretty easy to get from owl.

oh yeah evil if you do all the mutant hunting quests in the jupiter ares (guy in basement of the sation near your bed) then stalkers will leave AP ammo of all types in your locker each day, sleep a few times and you'll soon have thousands of rounds of hard to get AP ammo for all the guns.

Just got to the second area, and I'm loving every moment of the game.
I followed your advice Tefal, and I've been upgrading my equipment. It's really paying off compared to the stock AKs and pistols (pointless if you ask me).

hehe took me ages to realise you can have a big gun in each slot and don't need a pistol >.<

the pistols only become good when you get them t3 full auto but by then you've go so much money and better stuff that a pistol is pointless.
love the sa80/il 85 re chambered for 5.45mm at the start:p

Anyone with the steam version discovered where the frack the manual can be acquired from yet?

Men Dont Need Manuals :D

Im loving the game atm :D played it for about 7 hours and still in the first area.

Im about to explore the Dangerous Cave next to the burnt farmstead.

i got me a Modified TRs 301 with scope and silencer with accuracy upgrades and SPSA-14 stock.

No we complain when something kills us that we don't understand :p

Got me the Vintar hidden on top of 1 of the houses in that Burn Farm. Nimble is been a pain in the arse though, everytime i ordered an item he'd give me the Submachine gun, on the 1 occasion he didn't he gave me the wrong shotgun. As for the Sniper Rifle... hell if i know which is the best, i have no ammo for any so i'm not sure if i should just stick with the un-modded Vintar for now.

Is there anywhere you can really get hold of a protective suit in the first area? Would be nice to get some proper protection from anomolies so i don't burn/dissolve when trying to search them.

Spent an hour looking for artifacts, found a bunch but only one 'Wrenched' one that lowers radiation :(

Anyway I have a mission that wants me to contact someone to go to Pripyat but I have only done a few Missions in Jupiter, should I do the main missions or focus on side missions first?

I have an annoying issue with stats, they can be compared by selecting them I guess but as I am green/red/brown colourblind I can't see which is better or worse

What is considered to be the best armor/helmet/suit?
What is the best assault rifle type weapon?

I'm hopelessly addicted to Stalker again. It's just so damn big and involving. I've done all the missions in the first area now, time to move on I think although I've still not figured out what the electrical attack was on one of the choppers.

best thing to do is talk to owl about finding a specific artfact, just sleep till he says "a bubble" take the mission and a bubble will be spawned some where and you can find it.

You don't have to give it him the mission expires after so long :p

Exoskeleton is the best all-round but only once you have the calibration tools so it can sprint, until then an savo (sp?) suit.

Depends what you want really.

An F2000 modifed for rate of fire and recoil reduction is best for close assult.

The Sig550 Arrow (unique version) that belonged to strelock (can be found in a stash) is my favourite especially modded for flatness and accuracy. as unlike the normal sig550's it can take a scope gl and scilencer.

Although for 90% of the game i preferred a vintar BC and a auto shotgun no assault rifle.

the vintar can be modifed to be prett yrapid firing with good acuracy or really good accuracy with still fully auto decent rate of fire.

Don't know if this is relevant to anyone but i'm making a video with all the stash/secret item locations in the Creek area. Some of the locations are ridiculous, they've really hidden them well this time around.

Owl does nothing, he does not give me any missions or give me any information anymore, don't you mean Beard? (the guy at the 'bar' on the ground floor)

As for a gun, i have a Vintar in the right slot for sniping and long range and a TSR-301 in the left slot for close combat or a shotgun or a UDP pistol when I have a detector in my left hand.

I will look out for the Sig550 Arrow and keep it when I find it, do you know which stash it was?

yeah beard sorry >.<

Tbh ditch the pistol it's unnecessary weight, i personally ditch the assult as the vintar is fine at medium range as it can go full auto.

Get the drum fed shotgun ideally for ther other slot as it can be made full auto on the second teir (can be ordered from nimble).

The arrow is in the last of the three strelok stashes with his notes in (Jupiter area takes a while to get because of their locations)

So is it fair to say that this game is not as buggy as Clear Sky but has a few gameplay bugs like Shadow Of Chernobyl?

By that I mean nothing to stop you progressing further or crash to desktops.

Thanks.

I haven't had any ingame bugs or BSOD's after playing for ~7 hours, I did get one reboot when exiting but that was my fault as all my fans were on the lowest setting causing overheating propably
