Stalker Clear Sky - Biggest dissapointment of the year?

This review is very, very suspicious. The fact that they claim the English in the game is terrible is very odd, seeing as I know for a fact that the translation of Clear Sky was about 300% better than the translation of the original.

I suspect there will be a patch available on release/immediately after, but equally previous experience with Stalker suggests that the game will be buggy.

Overall, I suggest that you wait and see some proper reviews once the game is actually released.

Well I think Stalker is one of those marmite games, you either love it or hate it (or just don't really get it). Personally, I loved it and am currently playing through SOC again before CS comes out this Friday. In a strange kind of way the 'lower' production values and slightly clunky interface seemed to suit the game atmosphere more. I think if you liked SOC then there is a good chance you'll like CS. I've been wrong before though ... :D

I think its already been stated by the creator that a patch will be available on the 5th to fix bugs from the already released russian version.

i dont know how they make those reviews but man first stalker was much better then crysis and i can see that this one will better then warhead. how the hell crysis got score of 95 anyway

Stalker was the best game I've ever played and I've played most of them since Pong first arrived.
They've made this incarnation better for the fans I suspect, who demanded more difficulty and to make it more RPG like. It's a deep game and not really for the casual arcade gamer.
Mentioning the blowouts as a negative is just one example.
Blowouts only occur once in a while and if the reviewer can't park his arse for a couple of minutes for the sake of authentic roleplay, then he should stick to reviewing mass produced console shooters so he can keep his hand pumping away on his trigger. :)
Most players of the original wanted the blowouts put back into the game to give it more depth. I was one of them. I played the AMK mod and thought it was brilliant. All the things that had been removed from the final release to appease the mainstream trigger-happy phetheads and dumb it down, were modded back in. Throw yourself into the role and you get what you came for. A simulation of survival in a fictitious environment (loosely based on fact).
I, for one, welcome this review. It sounds like a bloody great game!

BTW anyone had their copy posted to them yet? A certain online retailer has had the game in their possession all day and haven't dispatched it to me yet. If it hasn't been dispatched by first thing in the morning, I'm going to cancel and buy it from a retail outlet. Postal service is usually crap I'd be lucky to get it on Friday even if they had posted it today (Tuesday).

Meh. I'll still enjoy the hell out of it. Some people set their standerds too high.

A DX10 game would expect high standards. Going off some of them screenshots in the other thread, the game looks terrible, certainly not a 2008 title by the looks of it.

My opinion of course.

This is from the magazine that gave The Witcher a score in the 60's and in their last issue gave the Spore Creature Creator a 90's score, so I'll reserver judegment until a couple of real games magazines get their hands on it :)

I agree. Has a retro feel to it, reminds me of the amiga games of the early 90's.

68% is more than I would give the first Stalker.
I have reninstalled this game several times in a forced atempt to like it but I just don't!

I wouldn't go on a PC Zone review though because from past experience they make no sense!

I'll still get it. I seem to remember loads of people on here telling me how rubbish the original was and yet I thought it was amazing. Buggy but brilliant. Replayed it recently and found whole new areas and scenes that I'd completely missed first time around. If it's anything like the original I'll be very happy.

Exactly what I was thinking (marmite - perfect analogy). Am still loving the original and yet loads of people think it's rubbish! Whatever floats your boat.
