Yeah i think patch 3 will have fixes for ATi cards, or they will be on the 2nd one, been that long i forgot as the 2nd patch was due weeks ago, but aint appeared yet and 3rd is now due, but bugger knows if the 2nd aint appeared yet, hopefully they'll roll both of them into one. :)
Ah that sounds good then :) Shame I have to wait tho.... But I suppose its a good thing, I do have 3 courseworks, and a few exams to do in the next 3 weeks

Just tried on another PC, 3800+ X2, 1900XT 512MB, 1GB Ram, same problem, 1 min into game CTD

I get this too on the new patch (not tried old one) but for me it is in specific instances or when i just leave the game running. If im constantly doing things within the game it seems to be fine. On the last bit of the training for the pda from the trader i get a crash which i think is again down to the user not interacting with the game for a while. Weird bug that =/

oh another thing i installed it through xp and it runs ok through that but when trying to run it through vista (still installed on xp partition) it loads up and all i can see is sky, no landscape or items around at all!

one more thing! I cannot for the life of me get AA to work or if it is working it only works very poorly. I see jaggies on everything whether i max out the ingame options AA or max it out in the nvidia control panel and force it on ><

damn buggy game :<

Did you not read the above, the Nv CP AA/AF settings have no effect on the game at all.

From the Stalker FAQ.

10) Why doesn't my anti-aliasing work?

A: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. uses a technique called "deferred rendering". Because of this, anti-aliasing has no effect on the game engine. (This is also used in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Rainbow Six.) Therefore, enabling anti-aliasing in the driver control panel has no effect.

It don't work. ;)

The rain glitches (if you mean the triangles), only happens when you go to the options menu, and back to the game. :)

Yeah i know AA isnt supposed to work but it still does AA over the deffered aa built into the game, thats what enhanced AA means on the nvcp. If you look at the article you are quoting theres a link somewhere to tweaking the nv cp which tells you this :)

You are probably right about the options screen as thats exactly what i did before it happened, browsing threads with similar problems people have stopped it occuring by disabling AF completely.
