Quoted from the devs post E3: (Oblivion lost.de STALKER news)

" Regarding patch 1.0004 and its release date.

The thing is that in the process of submission of 1.0004 to THQ, we began work on the Chinese localization of STALKER. Asian localizations are not simple. Although, it is not the first time for us, this has added some problems. To make sure that the Chinese version is compatible with the others, it must be the same version as the patch. Consequently, release of the patch is being delayed until THQ and the Chinese tester team accepts the Chinese master. When will this happen? I hope, very soon.

Are they having a laugh?

ok, that translated gives this

"we *****d up the patch, just uninstall the game and forget about it, we are never going to get this game right, we made a terrible job of it and will now be going into keyboard manufacturing for office pc's"

in all fairness it's really not that bad atm, i can't really complain about it tbh. is your's really running that bad?

I am really hoping this patch fixes my problem, I am unable to progress any further as everytime I goto the army warehouse the game crash's, running 1.003v and I've re-installed the game and tried earlier saves, but I still can't get it to work.

Think the developers will forget this game and focus on the sequal which will be the game that this one should have been, by then it will be to late as crysis, bioshock and ut3 etc will be out along with a load of other games that should overshadow stalker in terms of graphics and gameplay.

Shame really as I was really enjoying this game, which is why i am still trying to get the game to work.

I hope it's good. I just can't get into Stalker at all. I really don't like it but theres something telling me it gets better yet I can't see that at all.

I just put it on vista 32bit slapped in 1.3 patch and it plays fine with no crashes.

Doesnt excuse the fact the graphics suck and the game is pants imo lol. uninstalled

Didn't play it for long then? Shame, as the graphics and gameplay get a hell of a lot better later on :)

its running perfect tbh, i just dont like the game, after many months of following it, the hype of it, and paying for it, then finding out it was te worst purchase ive done for a long time. dont like the dev's

ags (stubborn and ignorant i know)

It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting after all the delays, and considering it was developed in the Ukraine. It was late, buggy, unfinished, and of significantly less scope than the original design, but like I say exactly as I expected.

And what was there I enjoyed a great deal. I was also lucky enough to have a system that ran it perfectly fine, but it was unplayable on my brothers and dads PCs (which were maybe 30% slower than mine), especially any zones that had lightning like Pripyat.

Thought the multiple endings were excellent, especially the positive endings, although I suspect a lot of people finished it and only saw a single negative ending, which would be a real shame because then you miss the final few levels which were totally awesome IMO. The modelling of the power plant complex was incredible (after the consciousness bit).

I'll definitely play it again at some point, maybe soon if this patch does indeed add dual core support.

Never really had any problems when I've played it through twice either. Brilliant game that looks very nice indeed. Lighting is some of the best I've seen and some lovely textures too.

Imagine I'll play it again if the patch boosts performance so I can enjoy it on even higher settings than last time!

iirc, the main reason behind the performance boost is the float32 patch, which is available anyway, I'm playing through it atm, and loving every moment
