Stalker vs. Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is about a billion times better than any of the Stalker games. Not saying they are bad at all, but Fallout 3 just feels so much more alive with so much more to do.
 
ive not played either, but ive been meaning to pick them up on the cheap, do these games get quite cheap on steam when in the sale ?
 
Stalker doesn't last very long, and will make you cack your pants. It's really, really good IMO.

FO3 is totally different really, and has a far more amiable atmosphere. Still good though. Play Stalker first IMO.
 
STALKER is much more minimalist than Fallout 3, but has a fantastic stark atmosphere. The underground sections in the first are very very scary.

Its very very close but STALKER pips it. Simply because the atmosphere they create is the best of any game i've ever played and its a very very challenging game

Both are great (but very different) games.

If you can get into STALKER you will literally wet yourself a few times. When I first went underground in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, I stopped and just stood at the bottom of the ladder terrified at what could be in the room at the end of the tunnel. The sound in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is also the very best I have experienced in any game (I have been playing games since the Dragon 32 when I was 12:o). The moans and groans in the distance/round the corner constantly made me think I could be in danger.

The graphics are simply stunning (as it was made for PC, not for consoles), good mods for tweaks and even better graphics. I finished the first two (could not put them down till I finished them) and haven't got round to COP yet. As stated they are very hard even on easy, (I used weight fix mods for Stalker so I could take everything I found to buy rad antidotes as the radiation is a killer and might frustrate you into giving up the game)

Fallout 3 Is also very good although you have to mod it with the high res packs to get it looking good as it was made for cross platform. I also finished the main story, Broken Steel, Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt, but I stopped playing F3 at Point Lookout, as for me the game was soo frustrating at the amount of crash to desktops that I was experiencing all the way through F3. (Ati 4870 at the time, loads of problems for ATI users).

Any way I would highly recommend both, but for me the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series wins hands down! If you do get it, just switch the lights out, plug in your headphones and turn the volume UP!
 
Fallout 3 is better for me, it just seems a lot more accessible.

STALKER is probably something I need to give another go, I put some Complete mod on that screwed everything up (making it too hard for me and really dark).
