Hey you guys /sloth

We need a new chair and tried this one out recently. It's lovely, super comfy...but does anyone here have one who can tell me what it's like to live with? Any issues etc?

The cheapish leather ones all seem a bit hard so I fancy a microfibre one.

Edit: imgur lost that one, so here's another 4.5 years later:

I was under the impression that I'm ok to post this as ocuk don't sell chairs?

haha I went there last weekend and sat in that very chair! Came home and said how amazingly comfy it was, I love it!

Would be interested to know peoples thoughts on it, think it was around £200 but it really is amazingly comfortable.

Less online, by quite a lot. Stores won't match web prices though.

It's the velour tracksuit effect that's putting me off.

It's not a trainer :p. Comfort is more important than fashion.

Well I ordered this and my wife has just called to say it's arrived at home! It really is insanely comfortable and a lot better than the £500 leather jobbies I tried at John Lewis.

Also it was £199 in-store yet only £130 online?!

Pics to follow.

However it is kinda thin compared to chairs I am used to, makes me feel a bit squashed.

Thin width-ways? Didn't notice that.

All I know is that it was by far the most comfortable chair I sat on, and I sat on a lot in Staples and John Lewis!

Not sure on warranty, for £130 I'm not that bothered and it should automatically come with 1 year anyway.

Here are some pics for anyone that's interested:

It really is, very comfy. Only downside is that it doesn't slide under my desk but I've just pulled the screens closer to the edge of the desk.

Constructing it was very easy, just a few bolts and screw caps.

Looks like it would be bad when hot/sweaty.

And your curtains suck :p.

Yeah, they weren't great. My mum gave them to us ages ago and it was one of those 'keep to appease' things. You'll be happy to know though, that they have now been replaced:

:p

I had one of these Kashmir chairs. It was uber comfy but in the first few days developed rips in the fabric.

I returned it, as a £200 chair that gets holes in it when you simply sit on it is unacceptable. Swapped it for a full leather chair from the same manufacturer.

Mine's still going strong, no rips or faults and still very soft and comfy. Incidentally it's now a £100 chair. If you paid £200 you got shafted.

Platypus is right that it isn't the best for ventilation as it can get quite hot, but it can't be any worse than leather. Those Herman Miller aerons are probably best for people that get sweaty arses :p.

I bought one today. AMAZING!

It's a bit 'sitty backy', in that if I want to lean in and be close to the screen it's not massively natural, but might be because I'm not used to it yet.

I put my desk on feet to raise it up, thereby allowing the arms of the chair to get under the desk. I found that allowed me to get close enough for typing comfort etc., whilst still being able to sit properly in the chair. Not sure how possible that would be for you.

mglover070588 - don't go by store prices. Staples are one of the few that still haven't managed to unify their online and bricks and mortar prices. That said, they've gone up a lot online too . Now £160 when people have paid £130 or less (which is much more like it tbh, even though it is awesome).

I haven't as yet had any loose bolts or worn fabric. Wife is breast feeding in it too as she loves the comfort. Any spillages have been easily cleaned. Stuggling to find any negatives to this chair apart from the now fairly high price.

Lol Dimple, do you fight wars in that chair? Also I didn't know they had a leather version of the Kashmir.

Mine's still fine, no sign of any wear and tear. But then I am not a chair oaf :D.

ok so i phoned them last night and they had got the 3 Kashmirs in that they were expecting.. got there this morning and only one left  as it was boxed up the sales lad aggreed to fix it together so i could try before i buy.. when he wheeled it out i saw straight away one arm was lower than the other and after a quick look it was plane to see he'd missed a bolt hole, he took it back and fixed it but it had left a scratch mark on the armrest, i told him i wouldnt be happy taking it with the scratch mark on it so he offered it to me for £100
sold :D

So you did 80 miles in the car to get a £20 discount on a chair and are delighted? :p

I've still not got any problems with mine. No loose bolts, no paint flaking, no worn fabric. Potentially the padding is slightly less sumptuous, but nothing I'm really noticing. Maybe the bolts were over-tightened in the first place? This is a far more common problem than under-tightening.

So are you saying it's best to under-tighten the bolts when I assemble the chair?

I'm saying that it's far more common to ruin a thread by over-tightening it than it is for the entire thing to collapse by under-tightening it. It's best to tighten correctly; neither over nor under :p.

look for a 24 hour rated chair if you want real comfort.

"The usage is for the life of the chair, not for the uses intimidate comfort"

Desperately trying not to come across as a fan boy, but I genuinely don't think it's easy to get subsidence-free padding for 120 quid.

This chair is reasonable value for money (at the lower price bracket) and extremely comfortable. Things people have mentioned about loosening bolts and flaking paint, I still haven't experienced and anyway, if this chair lasts me 5 years in whatever form, I'll be very happy.

The sitty back thing I sort of agree with, thought that's my natural posture anyway as I don't like to sit too close to a screen, so it doesn't bother me.

The gas strut hasn't affected me as I have it at the lowest setting all the time.

I'm still in the situation that the only negative I can think of considering the price, is that the arm rests are too high to fit under most desks.

Sure go and buy a second hand Herman Miller or whatever, but this is plush. And don't forget you can always get the seat base reupholstered with new foam and still save money.

I have the leather version of that chair, it is amazing but really has started to show wear and tear (after 5 years) - not too bad I guess.

No different to leather in car seats and you probably spend more time in a PC chair than you do a car.

Shoulda bought the cloth one anyway. Much better ;).

You're buying a new chair because your current one clicks when you move?! Blimey, obviously a very 'particular' fellow!

Edit: Anyone with the Kashmir could you measure the outside of the arm rest to the other outside of the arm rest, and say how wide it is in cm/mm, it says 514mm on the website but I dont know if that's taking the armrests into account or not.

At its widest point it's 620mm...not sure what 514 is tbh as the armrests are as wide as the widest part of the frame.

Edit: 514mm would appear to be the width of the back.
