Star Trek Bridge Crew - Tonight?

At the very worst that was The Orville, certainly not Galaxy Quest!

Thank you gents for a good evening. I'm not sure which evening I'll next be able to do, maybe wednesday, maybe not, but at the very least, Mondays should normally be good for me.

That was amazingly good fun and a real laugh :D

Had a great time, and there are plenty more missions to get into, plus old-style Trek and the Next Generation. (Provided you have the DLC).

Believe I have the DLC, seems to be an option for me when I load the game. Going to try and get the link cable working properly next time, should mean I can turn around without issues.

I'd just like to say that last night's Star Trek session was the most social thing I've done for months. Really appreciated given how lockdown has me stuck at home working and unable to socialise with friends and colleagues.

Lots of banter, laughs and even some cooperative gameplay in places. I'd fprgotten how much I missed all that.

It's a pity Ubisoft have abandoned the game as it really could do with some patches to properly support the newer headsets and to fix the audio issues.

Same here, I was struggling to even talk properly!! On the second mission we are all more relaxed and started having a bit more banter.

It really is one of the more sociable games in VR.

But, I am so disappointed that they didn't do some more with it. Away missions, space walks and shuttle runs etc would have been fantastic and probably not feasible. But, even if they had allowed us to walk around the Bridge a little. Giving more options in the various control panels with more ways to do things. Even just to make the game a little less linear and scripted. Like having to go to a system and explore it.

The possibilities really were endless!!

Have you ever played From Other Suns? If you want an Star Trek Away Mission game then it's the closest. Three people cooperative. It's basically FTL (That indie space strategy game) in real-time VR. It's a PC Oculus exclusive unfortunately, but you can play it via Revive on other headsets, provided it's setup properly. I wish they'd do a Quest port as honestly it's not especially graphically complex.

One of the best things about it is you're not locked to any place. You can wander around the ship, and physically point at the various UI elements. For example when standing in front of the star chart I often found myself pointing at a location and saying 'let's go here'.

You jump around the galaxy trying to get to Earth and stay ahead of an alien fleet, teleporting onto ships and stations for combat and puzzle solving, and doing ship-to-ship combat (much simpler than Star Trek). You can upgrade your ship with components and parts as you go.

There are a limited number of missions unfortunately, so it can get repetitive, but there are lots of weapon unlocks, and the weapons are random like borderlands.

If you fancy a go at any point then let me know. It'd be a good candidate for using my Quest 2 with virtual desktop or link rather than my Index.
