Star Trek Online

They are also looking to lose the sector borders and open it all up down the line. JGBR encouraged me to return - I was reluctant, but fair play the game has come a long way and the new weekly episodes (season finale tonight btw) have been great - as have all of the new daily patrols (and they don't just involve fighting - there are now class based RPG elements). I in turn got a few other people to return and they to have been enjoying it. Certainly worth the £10 sub at the moment.

Edit: Also on tribble you can now sprint pretty much indefinitely :)

That's really quite awesome if they're losing the borders too. That was my biggest complaint really, that it felt like you where in a box... Hopefully it should seem like you're actually in space.

I bought the cheap life subscription... I should really make use of it a bit more.

Right, so... been looking around for answers to questions I have as to whether a lot of the annoyances of the game I had when I originally played are gone or going in Season 3. I either fail at searching or there isn't much info out there and it's ******* hard to find, so I'll ask some of you chaps if anyone has spare time to answer :)

1. PvP balance better? originally there was some just insane abilities, Sub Nuc Beam, Feedback Pulse etc, and that you could chain the same skills after each other if they were different ranks, like Rapid Fire 1, then 2, then 3 which made BoP's a bit silly.
2. Klingon content I assume is a lot better? friend of mine told me there's lots of Klingon content now, but is it comparable to Feds or are is the Klingon faction stuff still "second rate" in comparison?
3. How's the main server population? bit dead or thriving? Last I read the subscription numbers were under 100k which didn't sound too healthy.
4. "Crafting" any better or is it still utterly awful?... and by crafting I mean the Memory Alpha rubbish that they tried to pass off as a crafting system.
5. Interiors still look like they were built for 50ft tall people or are they much more realistically sized?
6. I heard / read ships got an overhaul and you can visit more than just your bridge? is this the case? if so how in depth is it?
7. How good/bad is end game now? When I originally played there was just so little. They introduced the Borg stuff in that new sector but I think I finished all that in about 2 - 3 days then was bored again. Still a case of reactivating an account now and again just to play the new stuff or is there stuff there to always stay busy? and by that I don't mean daily / weekly quests :)

Still a bit gutted it's £10.50~ per month still :/ I'd just resub for a month to check it out but I don't fancy just handing over the cash to find out it's still ass :)

1. Duno as i dont play pvp personally but friends who do like it and its getting better.
2. Klingons have been getting some good updates but it is still no where near and never will be as close to pve contentwise as feds as they arnt designed for it. Mate told me yes its worth it tho now just to experiance a raid on the federation tho not sure if its ship or station but he said it was amazing.
3. Populations ok, not bad and seems more popular lately probably because of the featured episode runs.
4. Crafting well its better than it was and still memory alpha. The klingons get crafting in season 3 but not sure how its going to be except they raid for anomolies instead of gather them the way feds do im led to believe. Their are plans to improve and redo it totally but they can only do so much at a time so ull just have to wait.
5. Ship interoirs have normal sized doors and sliding doors. Social places like ds9 and ESD still have huge doors. BUT they are going to be redoing these places as and when. I believe klingon homeworlds getting it first tho and ESD as in redone externally and probably internally to the old ESD from the TMP era.
6. You can visit engineering, mess hall, sickbay and ready room. You can have trophies in lounge and ready room, their isnt anything to do yet but as usual they plan to but will take time as they can only do so much at once.
7. Im not sure about end game as i just made rear admiral upper half 1 not long ago. If you havent been around for awhile i think their is more now but i duno how much.

Oh and pi canis is now open to klingons and contains 3 dailys.

Lots and lots of dailies now :)

I had a wee blast at this since I purchased mid week and so far I'm on the fence. It hasn't quite got me engaged yet but I have only been playing a few hours and everyone tells me things get more fun later on.

Overall, I'd say it lacks polish but has potential if you want to get your ST rocks off.

Things get better once you get rid of the starting ship. Incidently, have we added you to the OcUK fleet? Need you Captainname@accountname if we haven't already :)

Still have refferal keys for anyone interested. Email me in trust.

I was on a trial of this early on in the year and I did enjoy it, infact the only MMO I have enjoyed and even considered buying.

I didn't buy as the ships couldn't move in space properly, which I found really annoying and the missions just seemed to buy shoot a space ship or land on a planet and kill an alien.

Have things changed?

Absolutely. The new feature epsidoes have all kinds of puzzles, RPG elements etc. I slated the game when I left after release. But things have changed a lot. It is a shame that a lot of people will not try the game again, but the leadership has changed and things are greatly improving. Can't wait for the sector space update!

As CaptainRAVE said they have added a large amount of new content that is different from the "kill things" missions that you got a lot of when the game came out.

Hopefully with the new sector space they can add much better and more varied random encounters, which are both random and a surprise. Be a great if on your way to a planet, an invasion force, comet, unknown planet, random destroyed or disabled ship to randomly appeared in front of you/on scanners. Would add to the exploration part of the game and give a reason to fly around randomly and in groups in case you meet a few enemy battleships on your travels.

This will almost certainly come along as part of the user generated content. We have already seen from the recent episodes how flexible the mission creating tools can be.
