Star Trek Online

I must admit I am shocked by how many stupid people there are on the official forums. How many have not read the T&Cs of their purchase and can't tell the difference between the Beta access key, Retail key, and the extras key they will be emailed at the start of official release (well that's what it says in my email conformation from Amazon). People are up in arms because they seem to think that the beta key is the extras for full retail and are ready to start a war because Crytic have changed the description in the account settings on the web site :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I would say 'Stupid Americans' but unfortunately some appear to be Brits :(

From my understanding there wont be a seperate key for the pre-order extras. You'll get a retail key in the box, and they can apparently tell via the retail key which retailer you ordered from. Supposedly you'll then get the extas automatically.

Amazon are saying they'll email the Borg Boff key on release day.

Should be tied in with the retail key that you get. Some could be seperate.

Yes, annoyingly after the headstart! Stops people getting it and cancelling their preorders though.
 
Im not sure how much of OB I will play. Since I was in CB. I dont want to be doing the Start up missions 3 time. lol

So I may pop on for a time. But will be in Headstart.

Im wondering when they will tell us how much the subs are.
 
Is the main site and forum down for everyone else again? The reason i ask is that it still sometimes shows that way when it's not due to cache errors.

Hopefully when it's back up they'll have an alternative way of downloading, that downloader thing is still chugging away at 30kb/s but killing my internet due to it maxing out my uploads.

It’s not the end users that are stupid it’s downright confusing. Someone messed up somewhere and labelled the keys wrong. Unless the Beta access key and Retail key are the same key. I have the same key labelled as different things in different places and I have more then one key. In the end I had to guess which key was for what.

It’s no wonder people cannot tell the difference between the keys when the shops are getting confused.

The OPEN beta key and headstart key are the same thing. You get the retail key on release day (there is a 7 day or so grace period during which you can apply the key). Simple. There are some dumb people over there mixed with people to anxious to get the game and spreading misinformation.

I must admit I'm dreading the next few days even more on the official forums when people realise it's going to take a few days to download the client, then patches, then the servers will be up and down more than Jordans knickers. It's like already some people seem to think that by pre-ordering they have some god given right to have a final release version of the game instantly there for them come start of OB. As I said 'Stupid people' :rolleyes:
 
Getting a whopping 100kbp/s from the client at the moment... =/

Hoping to get the majority of this downloaded today/tonight so I can just patch the baby tomorrow evening.

85% done mind, and that's been going since midnight or so last night.

Direct2Drive Open Beta Customers

We are aware of an issue where Direct2Drive Open Beta Keys were granted access to begin downloading and patching for the start of Open Beta today, however doing so will require you to repatch when we post the final Open Beta build on Tuesday. We've corrected this issue, but in the meantime you will want to stop patching.

How to tell whether you're going to need to repatch.

If you are patched up to ST.0.2010108a.0 you are good for Open Beta.

If you are patching up to ST.0.2010108a.1 STOP PATCHING - this will require a repatch.

The FULL open beta build will be posted on Tuesday.

If you are in doubt about what you are patching - stop patching. You will not be able to get into the game until Tuesday once Open Beta starts.
