What's this rubbish I hear about Cryptic giving new players a £10 discount and 90 days free play time? I keep reading about it but can't find anything official about it.
 
So, T3 Science vessel. What exactly do I need to do to be able to fire three beams without draining my weapons flat. :)

You want to get yourself an EPS console (engineering). What it does is speed up your power transfers coming out of full impulse and increase the rate your power returns to normal level after say a three beam broadside.

I have one in my Advanced Escort and it makes a huge difference for me.
 
EPS consoles, one will probably be enough for a t3 ship however they are a bit hard to get a hold of at those levels - exchange is your best bet but be prepared for expense
 
Don't use 3 beam weapons? :)

I used 1 beam and torps in front and 1 beam, turret and torps in rear. Take advantage of bridge officer skill tachyon beam to help with nme shields then use your captain's evasive manoveurs to fire front torps, turn, then rear, then back to front using the extra speed and turn rate it gives.

Should be able to take out anything under battleships quite quickly.

Using the same tactics for all the different ship types can make the game even duller than it already can be :)
 
Nothing wrong with that many beam weapons, personally I use 5 on my Science ship although normally only have 3 firing at one due to arcs. I just use a +3 EPS.
 
Just got to my T2 ship on the trial, yet to get my retail key. Personally i'm enjoying going easy mode and just getting heavy plasma cannons and a plasma turret on the back of my escort. Do nothing but apply dmg buffs and spam space bar, mostly thanks to my friend getting me all the mk4 items the second i got T2. Got mines and torp in my bag incase i change my mind though.
 
I take it they still have not added any content?

Ive been trying out eve online and i have to say despite the enourmous amount of work you have to put in to actually learn to play the game. I love it, far more indepth and realistic. The sandbox universe suits me more than STO. Really dissapointed. But i guess they are two different breeds of game.
 
Every subscriber can claim one 5 day trail to give away. Already gave mine away as have quite a few people in this thread, you may get lucky though!
 
If there are any trial keys going spare feel free to pass one my way as well. This is on the assumption that the game seems quite fun at the moment! :D
