Star Wars: Force Unleashed Demo

Has the Wii version had any reviews up yet? It wouldn't suprise me if the graphics were more than substandard and the controls just felt tacked on.

Until I hear otherwise I'd say stick with the 360 for the more polished experience.

I haven't read the review yet, but it scores higher than any of the other versions on IGN.

Im getting the WII version. Using the remote as a lightsaber should be fun.:)

You do realize it'll just be waving the wii remote left for one attack, right for another, forward for another? Basically just a series of button presses just via different motions, you won't actually be controlling the light saber as if it were in your hands like some people seem to have begun to believe.

The attacks are very limited though, if it didnt have a star wars theme it wouldnt be worth playing through at all, its very disappointing, it reminds me of the first star wars game that came out on the original xbox.

Theres also an annoying pause before attacking people at times.

I never finished Knights of the Old Republic 2 due to a bug, so i bought this instead to give me the much needed star wars fix.

Sounds better that than pressing a button for your character to swing a lightsaber.

How awesome would it be if the sabre position & movement mimicked the Wii controller properly (and swipes were therefore dictated by speed, angle, etc that you moved it) with the other part of the controller (the bit that plugs in) doing the force powers?

That sort of crazy intuitive gameplay is just a pipe dream I guess.

The reason why that wouldn't work easily is that the wii remote itself won't be able to resist your movements. If for example in a lightsaber fight you were to swing but then make contact with another saber you would carry on the motion while the game would be forced to stop as it makes contact thus confusing the game as it would have to re-join to the position of your remote somehow.

I guess it may be possible, it all depends on how accurate the accelerometers in the wii remote are and basically how much CPU power the wii itself has. My bet is at least one of them isn't up to the task.

I think the point Streeteh is making is that unless the Wii remote actually acts as a proper lightsaber there'll be no difference between waving it around and pressing a button. I expect either you'll end up concentrating more on doing the correct motion with the Wiimote to pull off the desired move than actually naturally emulating the actual moves of a saber or swinging like a mad man as it doesn't actually matter what motion you do ala Twilight Princess. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though, the Wii's been crying out for a proper sword wielding game since that advert for Red Steel.

That and the sort of gameplay people are wanting is geared up for a fixed over the shoulder or, even better, first person view mode; neither of which you'll get in The Force Unleashed.

Its another of those games that isn't worth £40 because it only has 6-8 hours of gameplay and no multiplayer to speak of. I usually only play through single player once on a game unless I particularly like the levels or its an amazing story, so this would just sit gathering dust. Plus Crysis Warhead is out the same day for less than half the price, and Fifa '09 out 2 weeks later.

I, personally, can't wait for this. If the game expands on combat with level ups the way the demo suggests. This will be an awesome game the further on you get :)

My copy was posted today as well, hopefully with my Storm Trooper figure.:D I know what to expect from the game, the demo gave me a pretty good idea. So long as i enjoy it and gets me my fix of Star Wars then i happy, if i'm bored of it by then i'll sell it or exchange it for Fifa 09 or something.

well i have avoided playing the demo simply because I wanted to see the full version in all it's glory. I have just had my copy delivered to me today. Sadly i am at work so will have to wait until tonight to play but can't wait. I hope all the new tech they have pumped into this game will make it one that I can just pick up and play and have hours of fun with.
