Star wars squadrons to support vr

Doesn't matter, it links it to your EA account and only that account can play it. So it's one user on PC, as many as you want on console.

I guess most PC gamers don't share their PC with other people so this problem doesn't arise.

But I can see how it would be frustrating.

Really looking forward to this game. Though I don't have a VR Setup.

I'm also really looking forward to this.

It looks like a good counterpart to Elite Dangerous. The lack of micro-transactions as well as the potential for ship customisations seems to reflect ED too - which is good (I won't be buying any bobble heads though).

More importantly, it seems to fill that "Star Wars: Tie Fighter" gap that ED never quite managed. It also reminds me of the MechWarrior 3 and 4 on-line battles and customisation.

It does look good, As long as it doesn't turn out to be yet another online pvp death match game, The market is over-saturated with those.

The demo/test makes you link your PSN to your EA account

On PS4 and Xbox, you still have to link your gamer tag to an EA account, but they allow multiple EA accounts and console accounts on one console from a single purchase. Sony and MS mandate it.

On PC you can only link one EA account to a purchase and thus only one PC login to a purchase.

So if I buy on the family Xbox One X or PS4 Pro we can all play it with our own accounts. In fact I can share it across both PS4 Pros we have too. If I buy it on PC my two boys miss out.

They say its crossplay but how will that work? can i party up with my Xbox friends while i play PC VR?
I want to play it on PC (VR & HOTAS if i can find a replacement for my X55 which just died after 6 years) but i also want to play with my mates.

Quick bash with a gamepad, and it's fairly good.

Soon as you hit the hangar before the launch you really know you're in a VR game. You might be stood static, but the detail and the troopers moving around really puts you in the spot. The decals on the cockpit interiors are fantastic too, above any space sim in terms of fine detail and sharpness. If you were one of those in your 40's that wanted that moment in a tie or Xwing, this is as close as you'll get right now, it doesn't disappoint.

Background space and the ship geometry were a little flat, both seemed a little bit cardboard imposed. No where near the standard of the top draw X-RebirthVR, or Elite from memory. Probably a legacy of the PSVR support, it looks a old hat on default and just bolt on better textures running on ultra. Despite variations on reported performance, it ran flawlessly on ultra settings at 150% on the internal render scale, not a frame dropped. For me that was a default steam purchase on the index, problems seem to be coming from variations on hmd's and store purchases.

I'm thinking i'll get more enjoyment out of it once i dig out the stick, but tbh i wasn't totally wowed.

I've played many space games in VR, and if it wasn't a built up content filled polished release and Star Wars, id rate the actual space/combat bit along the standard of an indie title like End-Space, Starway Fleet or House Of The Dying Sun.

Wow engaging combat for me was Conflict Freespace, Wing Commander 3, Starlancer, maybe even Freelancer... i wasn't feeling them vibes with Squadrons yet.

The starfield background looks pretty bad - blurry, and feels like a backdrop rather than stars at essentially infinite distance.
I had issues with performance on my Index until I dropped all the 2d detail levels down. Seems like it's rendering two copies of the game.

I thought the VR scale in the hangars was a bit off. Everything seemed a bit on the small side.

I agree that the flight model feels more Endspace than Elite. I'd say House Of The Dying Sun feels better to be honest.

I don't like that the yaw is so flat. The original X-Wing and Tie Fighter had a bit of roll when you yawed which made it feel more dynamic.

The cockpits are amazing though. Incredible detail.

Defaul HOTAS bindings are a mess, they don't make a lot of sense on my X52.

I've given up with my x52, the game has a set 50% dead zone on HOTAS and I just can't get it to feel natural

Thank you, does feel so much more natural playing with a controller though which is unfortunate but I guess it's been designed that way...

Been playing this with the Rift S mostly and while everything in the cockpit looks excellent everything else doesn't look quite as good as it does on the monitor, which sucks as this game was the sole reason I got another Rift S

Took me couple of hours to set up the warthog and rudder pedals yesterday. Its always a nightmare when software uses the windows numbering scheme for joysticks. I had to unplug my two MFDs to get it to recognise all three devices properly.

Just been playing around so far but found the performance seems quite good. Had everything on high and flying around at 60fps with the index on 100% SS.

One thing I did notice though is that it seems smoother with Motion smoothing turned on? I can hit 90 fps on medium/ low settings but panning seems a bit juddery?
