Stardew Valley

I'm probably going to finish Year 2 tomorrow. I've spent every hour I can on it. Best game I've played this year. It's so hard to stop, I always want to do one more day.

It's getting tricky now though as I need the rare ore and it's tough to get it.

Does fishing get easier as you level up, I have caught some big fish but sometimes I lose the fish very easily.

Im using the next rod up from the basic rod you get given.

How exactly do you level up the fishing skill.

does it level up the more you fish?

Everything levels up the more you do it. Fishing gets a lot easier but there will still be special ones that jump all over the place. :D

I played this for an hour or so a couple of days ago... I feel very limited with my stamina. I keep falling unconscious. Does the stamina get better ? Or am I just doing it wrong ? It's so frustrating not being able to get anything remotely large scale done. I feel like I'm not getting anywhere.

The stamina increases a little as you play but eventually you will build a kitchen for your house and there you cook meals with the veggies you grow and those meals will restore your energy.

Hmm maybe I should just stick with it then.. literally just cleared out the front lawn of boulders and crap, fell unconscious, got charged 50 quid for the hospital bill, and thought screw this. (I was admittedly having a bad day :p )

Is there an endless mode? Used to hate the 3y cycle on harvest moon because I didn't want to abandon my farm.

I think I've read you can play as long as you want to. There is a sort of end game thing at the end of year 2 or 3 but you can carry on after it. I'm coming up to the end of year 2 which will have taken me 80 hours or so.

Great game :D

They're working on a multiplayer for it currently too, not sure if it's for all platforms but definitely for PC.

Making a nice profit on fishing, level 6 now and have a few good spots where I get gold star fish nearly every catch.

Put about 15 silver/gold fish in my chest and made a nice 2500g in a day.

This or farming simulator?

Looking for a chill out game I can play over long periods of time when I'm done raging with FIFA,BF1 etc

This for sure. No idea what Farming simulator is like, but if it's like the other simulators, then it's probably not as good as Stardew Valley. For those who are trying to figure out what it is, it's a lot like Harvest Moon. You get a large plot of farmland that needs to be cleaned up, you can put buildings on it and have livestock and farm crops of course. Even more you can build machines to process the crops animal goods. I.e. you can make beer, cheese and even mayonnaise in this game.

There's other things to do besides farming too, like fishing, exploring the mines and mining ore/killing monsters. You can interact with villagers, give them gifts, do quests, become best friends and of course, get married and have kids. This game can go very deep and is still getting updates. The last one added quite a lot to it.

And on PC... it's very moddable ;)

That's the idea. There are certain spots where if you cast the line out the max, you'll always get gold fish. It's usually the furthest bits from the shore. Make sure you explore the mines. Level 20 you can get some nice fish that sell for 500g (though I swear those fish used to sell for more, perhaps a recent update nerfed the sale prices?). Level 60 you get one that sells for around 750g and level 100 you get one that sells for 1k a pop. They can be tricky to catch though.

You also unlock the spa three days into the 1st summer, if you jump in it your health and stamina recharges quickly.

I'm burned out. Clocked up 120 hours and bought the thing I really wanted. All that's left really is to maximise friendship with everyone, cook a load of food and find the missing fish.

I've been watching other people play on Twitch who've got extraordinary gardens all laid out neatly with stone paths and things. Mine was a complete higgeldy-piggeldy mess until I just razed it all to the ground at the beginning of winter ready to start afresh. Not sure I can be bothered though. Had my money's worth 10 times over so it's been worth it.
