Stargate - Universe

What they need is to discover a brand new type of baddie out of the blue, one who absolutely kicks their ass and makes all their existing allies look a bit weak.

Oh hang on ... ;)

Indeed, my feeling is they used the force field to surround them selfs from the blast rather then contain it.

Well at least it can't be as bad as the last time they tried to do a kiddy version of Stargate... oh actually it can :(

There's some trailers up over at the Universe Website

Doesn't look too promising, the second trailer kind of has a Battlestar-Galactica-shaky-cam-and-everything-is-grey-look and that girls voice at the end is annoying.

Will still reserve judgement until I see it but hopes are not high.

robert carlyle for the win! maybe its got some good storylines its not like he needs to get in a crap series for the money

The cast seem a little more higher profile I guess, only time will tell I think its due this fall anyhow or summer?

Either at this point tbh theres no scifi left on telly ! Atlantis gone and BSG gone, hopefully SGU and Caprica can help a little scifi fix for 09:)

I was just thinking about this today and wondering when it would be aired!

I don't like that they cancelled Atlantis, I thought it was pretty good :(

Unfortunately Atlantis was pretty good but went downhill rapidly with season 4 and 5. While I would have preferred a sixth season I'm glad they didn't try to kick the arse out of it like SG-1.

It did get very long for SG1 so long that brown hair went too greys and poor mcguyver ;)

But it still held up and did well towards the end, and it sure was fun too see them cross over and continue too the atlantis world.

I hope they continue with the spin off straight too dvd films cos theres plenty of storys yet too do, and it seems the dvds sell like hotcakes !

I dont think theres any other scifi shows around ? Fringe is just dire...so it dont count, Red dwarf is few off eps ! Terminator is just looking canned already.... anything else in the pipe lines?

I'm more interested in SG:U than I was, but that's mainly due to have listened all the podcasts darren and david (the guys behind Gateworld) put out over the last year or so ...

There are 36 at the moment with a new one out later today!

The various discussions they go through at the moment - since atlantis has finished are good to listen to - they are doing recaps of all 10 SG1 seasons over the coming months for starters :)

Still disapointed that Atlantis is canceled just when it was getting pretty good as well

Same.

I've just discovered Battlestar Galactica, which should tide me over until SG:U. I was blown away by the mini-series and I'm currently devouring Season 1.

I wonder how much they had to pay Robert Carlisle to give this steaming pile some credibility. What's the betting he dies in the pilot episode ;)

Stargate always rubbed me up the wrong way, brainless sci-fi made to please the masses, this looks no better, massive potential but no way it's going to realise it.

From the trailer i think it looks fantastic. The feel of it seems very differnent to SG1 and Atlantis which is what the producers were aiming for anyway.

Stargate is far from brainless sci-fi for the masses.
