Stargate

As an aside am I going crazy or did they do (official?) themed Laser Quest type event(s) for the original movie release in London? I have some really hazy memories of seeing a promo reel on a big screen in the staging area for players that was similar to the middle bit of the original movie trailer with highly cinematic sequence of soldiers walking up to and through the stargate which was a kind of primer for the event - IIRC we had a train to catch so I couldn't do it and was quite annoyed. But as it was over 30 years ago! I've only got very hazy memories other than of the sequence as the soldiers passed through the gate.

Loved Stargate and it's series so very much have high hopes this will be worth it especially as they've got the core people involved from what made SG-1 etc it's best (but also it's worst haha).

Hoping they might actually bring SG-1 etc to Prime at some point in the UK once any other agreements expire - perhaps to coincide with this releasing?

That was the worst of the lot  my god that show was awful. Premise of the epsioides was "we're alone, with no supplies, how depressing, we're all going to die out here, how can I stab each other crew member in the back"

They we're fixing that at the end of Season 2, 3, would have been a lot more of a pull together from everyone, but, cancellation :/

Atlantis and Universe fell into a strange trope revolving around giving way too much emphasis around the plot shoehorning the annoying, hyper-intelligent scientist guy which was never the case for the original series... so here's hoping they don't repeat it.

I assume they'll give some further closure to both the shows though I see no reason not to keep using Atlantis for episodes if it's pertinent, I also wonder how they'll expand on the Lucien Alliance stuff as they seem kinda lame and same with The Trust which frankly was ruined by the goa'uld infesting it which killed off the whole morally grey, Earth-first plots. The Wraith are practically a non-issue, the Ori question was never actually answered and the gate to Celestis can't just be ignored it's such a big unknown with the birth place of humanity.

Don't really know what they're going to focus on but I assume some new big bad will arrive (maybe those green dudes from the multiversal Daedalus?), kind of hoping they either focus on exploring the Ori galaxy or though it's unlikely because another show going to Andromeda and having the plot involve actually building gates.

To an extent I liked it, in Atlantis it mostly worked, in Universe it got tedious after awhile but that was mostly due to the Hollywood thing of characters being sulky and not communicating information for no actual good reason. Some of the best bits of Atlantis were with Rodney and Sam playing off each other.

It is kind of scary how old some of the actors look now.

Excited. But I've been so disappointed by recent series of basically everything I'm not getting my hopes up.

SG-1 was good but I didn't like the Goa'uld as the bad guys, they were a bit camp.
Atlantis was the best Stargate series.
Universe was underrated and I wish it had at least one more series.

I am going to allow myself to be a little bit optimistic but I am going to prepare for disappointment.

The original incarnation of them I thought was decent but they increasingly became more and more camp over the series. SG-1 was really hit and miss for me between the good stuff and campier elements especially when it came to monster of the week episodes which mostly were a complete miss for me.
