A 40,000lb bomb wud be madness!;)
The US was developing such a bomb at the end of WWII. Not sure they had a plane capable of carrying it though. The British Lancasters could only just carry the 10 ton Grand Slam bombs.

If this was a massive attack, like really massive, we are allowed use HMS Vanguard or one of the other 4 ICBM submarines we have will be pointing missiles straight at Sadman Insanes a$$. Each missile can deliver 12 warheads:eek: , although, i doubt they wud use this capability, unles pushed with no choice
For a while now all of our Trident subs have carried a few SLBMs with only one warhead, specifically so that we could respond with a proportional response if required. The US have done the same with some of their weapons.

you are wrong why do you think saddam didnt use chemical weapons on us or uk troops in the first war, because they would drop a nuke on his a$$.
It was reported later that the Coalition response to Iraqi use of CBW was to attack the dams on the rivers upstream from Baghdad and flood the city.

Legal missiles can be fired from Basra and still hit Kuwait city. Once the south is cleared up to Basra then any legal missiles that can still hit Kuwait should be out of range.
Kuwait City is only about 36 - 60 miles from the border.

It's thought they were fired from the North West of Basra into Kuwait (from memory of BBC World service commentary), which would entail the missiles travelling further than the permitted distance.
Basra - Kuwait City ~ 72 miles. So well within range of permitted weapons

He should know, as he was in a similar situation under the Taliban, and was liberated, although i hope we make a better job or Iraq :)

Cost of last nights air strike in ordinance alone:

1000 cruise missles @ approx. $1,500,000 each.

= 1.5 billion US dollars :p
Some estimates for the cost of the munitions that will be expended in the first week were as high as $41 billion. So to say this is about Oil shows how naive some people are.

Edit the current production cost is $500,000. One of the benefits of scale. :)

I see the cost of cruise missiles keeps increasing everytime that it is mentioned. Most cruise missiles today cost around $500k.

economy of scale ;)

The side of Islam that everybody conveniently forgets or are totally ignorant about. Islam is a religion/culture of peace and hospitality.:)
It's the extremists who give Islam a bad name.:(

Thank you. People seem to assume that people like OBL and these suicide bombers etc speak for all Islam. They are fundamentalists. They do not follow Islam as set out out it should be.

Also, not so much to the Americans, but most Iraqi's seem to love the British people and all things British. Iraqi civilians are a friendly but repressed people.

PS reports coming in of more Iraqi surrendering. Anyone have any info??
