Besides the MOAB's use in a civilian area being a war crime (effectively the whole city would be classed as civilain for this purpose, even if it was aimed at an army base in the city), the adverse publicity would undo everything the Americans and their allies have been trying to do.

In short it would be political suicide for it to be used against anything other than a purely military target (base miles from anywhere) and even the possibly dodgy, as the Americans etc are trying to make a point of only hitting military targets and even then giving them a chance to give up where possible

Turkey doesn't give a damn about the US and the UK, I can tell you that.
They will need UK support if they are ever to gain entry to the EU.

Can we move on from the MOAB fantasy. We've all explained to Sharknose that it wont be used on Baghdad.

BBC 24

The Iraqi 51 ID has surrendered. It was defending Basra as there was supposedly only 3 Iraqi divisions in the south, that may mean Basra may be almost undefended.

Good News any way as thats 8000 soldiers we wont have to fight

MOAB might me used in the dessert if needed.

Wont be used on Baghdad centre. A 1000lb missile deavastates a large building and rocks the whoel city, as we saw tonight.

MOAB is like 21,000lb. yes 21 thousand lb.

Also, much of the Explosion we are hearing is not the bomb hitting, its what they are blowing up, ie weapons dumps, fuel supplies at palaces etc.

20 ton is 20,000 kg though so that equates to over 40,000lb

"Known as MOAB — the Mother of All Bombs or more formally the Massive Ordnance Air Blast — the 21,000-pound explosive weighs as much as six Volkswagen Beetles and would be the largest conventional bomb in use by the military."

21,000lb

A 40,000lb bomb wud be madness!;)

If he does use Biological or Chemical weapons if he has them, on British or US Troops, then i really do fear. If this was a massive attack, like really massive, we are allowed use HMS Vanguard or one of the other 4 ICBM submarines we have will be pointing missiles straight at Sadman Insanes a$$. Each missile can deliver 12 warheads:eek: , although, i doubt they wud use this capability, unles pushed with no choice esp due to the iraq situation.
