Lets put it this way if your country is being invaded and your sufficiently brainwashed enough to believe Saddam, I dont think there will be massive defections, i just hope there is. I thought the troops would just have to turn up on Iraqi soil and most of, if not all would just surrender.... I think Baghdad will be a tougher nut to crack than we give them credit for.

There have already been 15,000 surrenders.

NO ONE was expecting us to walk in and they all give up, come on, this isnt France:D .

Just reported that our trooped have clashed with possible Reupublican Guard 100 miles south of Baghdad.

There have already been 15,000 surrenders.

NO ONE was expecting us to walk in and they all give up, come on, this isnt France:D .

Just reported that our trooped have clashed with possible Reupublican Guard 100 miles south of Baghdad.

15,000 is a lot of troops, granted, but I am pretty sure Saddam's army amasses to around 350,000 after the last gulf war if my memory serves me correctly.....

15,000 is a lot of troops, granted, but I am pretty sure Saddam's army amasses to around 350,000 after the last gulf war if my memory serves me correctly.....
 
Aye correct, its around 300,000 i beleive. However, 80,000 of them are Republican Guard:eek:

So say there are 200,000 regular troops.

Also bear in mind, that a lot of troops are going to be stationed around Baghdad, with a B'ath Party henchman pointing a rifle at anyone who decides to surrender.

This was never going to be a walkover, but we did expect the surrenders. Pretty much in line with what has happened i reckon!

Totally m8,

i tracked most of your posts on this, same thinking as mine... but I dont believe the republican gaurd are as Elite as most people think.... a lot of them are ex vet's of the Iraq v Iran conflict.... there tougher than the conscripts, but I think they are also "more in the know" with respects to where there thoughts on post Saddam lies..... if they think its worth a fight to show aggressors "as they put it" they might go for a confrontation, but also I think they will put arms down when they think they put up a decent enough fight to show "pride in their own people"
