hopefully this means they realise that the war could last months unless action is taken. Anyone still confident of a quickish victory?

Not really.

I've always said that Baghdad would be a hard fight.

There is no such thing as an easy war.

True but i thought it would be quicker than this

Only been goin 8 days mate!

Lots of people were under the impression this would be a few days thing, but i dont think its realistic to invade a whole country in such a short time (excepts France ;))

1000's of extra troops set to join fighting at Nasiriya.

RFA Sir Galahad nears port of Umm Qasr.

IRAQIS 'FIRE ON CIVILIANS'

Thousands of civilians fleeing Basra are reported to have been fired on by Iraqi forces inside the city.

Sky News correspondent Emma Hurd says that between 1,000 and 2,000 people were heading out of the west of the city, toward the 7th Armoured Brigade of the Coaltion forces.

"They had to cross a bridge and once they got there it seems that forces inside the city - members of the irregular forces, the Fedayeen - opened fire.

"The people then ran back into the city. It's quite a disturbing picture," said Hurd.

British military officials say there are reports of injuries but no deaths.

Some guy on the news says it is much too small to be from a cruise missile or even most of the other bombs we are using.

The respect that we offer to our service dead is amazing. I've never seen anything like it.

It makes you proud to have these men and women serving this country.

After a short break, Over Clocker Reporting is back on air!

For the 1st time, B1 and B2 Bombers have been operating deep inside Iraq.

5000 extra US troops are destined for Nassiriya.

Marines raided a camp and found tonnes of weapons, plus bio-chemical suites and gas masks.

British Forces have secured a stronghold one mile to the south of Basra. They also found near 1,000 anti tank shells and other artillery gunnery.

The Iraqi Information Ministry was under fire overnight, but Iraqi satelite broadcasting is now back on air from remote transmission sites.

US Troops have now completely surounded Najaf.

Yep, they have a policy now where they will do this, due to what happened this afternoon, where Iraqi soldiers in plain clothes opened fire on US Troops and Iraqi civilians.

 Nice one.

Wassup??

There is only a certain amount of warning you can give.

There are also reports of the same story which say a lorry behind the civvy car opened fire on the civvy when it stopped. The lorry had 4 Iraqi feedayin's in it, there was a fire fight in which people on all "3 sides" were injured.

While it is a tragedy, the Soldiers did EVERYTHING they could have done to get the vehicle to stop.

Incidentaly, women can be suicide bombers too.

In light of recent happenings, i would have done exactly the same thing. Their restraint is commendable.
