Starting Smoking - Any tips?

Working towards a 'target' is silly and a stupid thing to do. Don't arbitrarily waste your money. There's a point where you want to smoke because you need to calm down and chill out, and there's a point where you smoke just for the sake of smoking. You've completely glossed over just how 20-30 a day can affect you in the immediate term too. Personal hygiene is a bitch for one.

And throat cancer is much more common for drinkers, chewing tobacco users and pipe/cigar smokers.

To be honest i expected the snide comments from the chubby virgins, but the serious comments are appreciated. :)

I was thinking of starting on 5 a day and working my way up to 20/30 a day.

To be honest i like the taste and smell and ignoring the cost i can't think of a reason not to.

I don't think hygiene is an issue, i shower twice a day and the money isn't a problem.

Are you saying 20/30 is too many or that 50 is ok as long as i am stressed?
 
Best advuce is not to start. As an ex-smoker I can attest to the morning cough, smelly clothes, awkward social moments, and so on. It won't do your general health any good either. There is no upside.
