Just gave that a try and it came out perfectly, even with the cheap-lager marinade I made .

good stuff, I really fancy a nice steak right about now but since eatting a dodgy takeaway on tuesday ive eatten the grand total of 1 serving of beans on toast everything else has reappeared soon after

I hope that just put all you healthy people off your steaks

Though seriously, decent beef is meant to be hung for a few weeks, so it won't be THAT raw

Oh and the real crime against steaks, those hot cast iron sizzling platters they insist on bringing your steak on instead of a plate. Not only have they over cooked my steak, they bring it to me on something that will continue to cook it while I eat it. Cook the steak properly and then allow it time to relax, it's not that hard yet so many places get it wrong.

Hey, loving all the steak talk guys - men and their meat hmmmmmmmm!

Anyhooo, I'm sitting here with a piece of salt beef cooking (low light for 3 and a half hours approx.) and it smells sooo nice and it's making me feel sooo hungry. Tomorrow though - thinly sliced, warm, in rye bread with dill pickles and mustard. Heaven.

Medium for me Its how ive always liked it, my dad always ruined it by over cooking, but when i have it in a restaurant i or at home i have it medium..

Anything wrong with eating 2 steaks a week? I can't get enough.

Over the summer and next year at uni I'll be buying from butchers but am nearly finished now and have lived with Morrisons steaks most of the year; tasty but I want more for my money now. I like mine cooked medium, lovely.

Steak is a man's best friend.

Anything above Medium is just for people who don't actually like meat, IMO.

Blue if at home, or Rare/Very Rare when out at a restaurant. Not that I don't trust restaurant, but I find quite a few won't actually cook blue due to H&S etc.
