I introduce it to a nuclear-hot griddle pan. As in - "pan, this is steak. Steak, this is pan. Right, that's enough cooking".

If the steak is just about warm in the centre, then it's perfect. Any more, it's overdone. Still, I reckon the best way is to grind it up raw and make steak tartare :)

Slap it's arse and send it through.

...Seriously though, when I was younger I used to hate any sign of 'red'. As I have got older and realised the link to taste, I prefer medium with about half and half.

depends on the cut completely, can be anything from medium to well done though.
i rarely ask for a medium at a place i have never had a steak from a few times before though, as chefs seem to undercook mediums in my experience!

I don't know any beef in the UK that I would trust for anything less than well done.

Flavourwise I have no problem cooking a 1-2" sirloin steak well done so it has no uncooked meat and the juices haven't quite just turned fully clear.

I used to eat rare or medium when I was younger and thought red meant more flavour, I don't anymore.

Some of you guys should just jump on it's back and start gnawing away.

This sort of thing always ends with the "any longer that 30 seconds is burnt" bigade versus the "I want it cooked" lot.

Personally, I like it medium (warm all the way through) but as stated earlier, it depends a bit on the cut.
