Steam and these poxy trading cards.

I made £1.50 selling the cards from Tomb Raider and ETS2. By this time next year I will be a milli... oh no,*about the same as I haven't seen one since :D.

On the plus side it was extra money off The Bureau pre-order. Only takes a minute to list them and then forget about it until they sell.

i bought Half Life 2 yesterday for £1.75, i used a discount code so i payed £1.40, i got 9p TCB and after a couple of hours play i got 3 trading cards which i listed at ~3am this morning and they have sold at 10p each, i dont know how many cards this game will give me but if i get another 10 then the game will cost me 1p, any more than that and im in profit :D

I wish I could somehow turn off this utter garbage as well.

They are pointless to the extreme for anyone aged over 8.
It may not be a system you like, but as for it being utter garbage, well I've funded a couple of game purchases from selling them.

Sell them and use the money to buy other games.
It's something for nothing.

Surely that's not too hard to grasp?

As for the box, no it can't be switched off.

bang them straight into the marketplace. I got walking dead season 2 free effectively by selling like a million cards I didnt knew I had.

also lol @ first few posts. wonder what on earth happened there!

The way I look at it, all this social engineering junk is the price I pay for cheap games. I very rarely pay more than a few quid for a title any more, and that's entirely down to Steam and its influence on publishers. So I can hardly complain if they try to extract some extra value from the system by manipulating folk with social elements and baffling cards.

It is still annoying though, I agree. However it's no more annoying than Google and the stuff it does in exchange for your cheap (free!) services... or Microsoft, or Apple, or...

Welcome to the 21st century. :-)

Must admit I can't figure out the "point" behind them either.

The reward just is nowhere near worth the effort that I'd have to go to in order to match up a set of cards, arguing over card value etc.

So yep, I just sell them on. There's a 13 yr old kid on my friends list (next doors grandson) who seems to like them, so occasionally he gets a couple of them.

Well I did not know what the hell these were for. Just sold some and made the princely sum of £0.50 straightaway! Nice. Will build up a small nest egg for the xmas Steam sale...

I used to collect cards when I was a kid. Still got half an unfinished star wars album from the early eighties :D
I think thats half of it and if you collect enough you get to post special emoticons in chat, jealousy consumes me

Same here made 29p so far, I didn't know I could sell them and why anyone would want to buy them.

Did none of you collect stickers for albums as a kid? For me, it feeds that same urge.

If you have Steam, you play games.

This is just some fun which revolves around games.

Fine in my book.

Dont think you can turn off the notification

I dont mind them to be honest (trading cards that is), sold a fair few and only kept a couple payday steam background images..
Made about £4 on them which brought me lego lotr :)

So for free aint going to really complain

Why not live and let live? No need to belittle those who enjoy the system and it's 'perks' simple because you do not like them yourself. Also, no I'm not one of them who collects badges or whatever. Made a tidy few quid selling them on which has nabbed me a few games. Fair play to those who bought my cards, if that's what they want to spend their money on who are we to judge.

I traded in some for a few indy games from someone I know, seems like a handy system for anyone that doesn't want to collect them their selves ;)

Just sell them, it takes seconds to sell each card. I have made probably over £20 including a few CS:GO crates etc as well.
