It sounds like the steam link is no better than an htpc or laptop with in home streaming tbh.
I've used the controller a bit, although I'm not allowed to properly use it til xmas. I really like it. It bridges a gap for me, and that's the main reason I got it. So I could use my htpc downstairs with all of my games, rather than being forced to just play pad compatible games. I've yet to try an fps, but that's not really sofa gaming for me. Games like civ and banished, telltale games (you always have to grab something in those QTE moments and a stick is rubbish compared to the trackpad), and the like have really been transformed for me. It's just a case of gaining familiarity and knowing which tool is going to be right for the job, rather than expecting it to be perfect for everything.
