Steam - problems with downloads

Mine was playing silly a bit this week, Usually get 9MB/s but seeing lows or 3 and average of 5.

I'm assuming something with Steam's end since I've been downloading from Origin a bit this week, downloading BF4 + DLC and Fifa 16 and maintained a constant 10ish MB/s xD

I posted this on steam forums last night,seemed to help a lot of people on there.

I just bought dying light,was havng the same problem as the op,game wasnt downloading.
Im in the uk and the download location was set to london,that was no good,
so i changed to manchester,that was the same not downloading anything.

So i thought i would try some us servers,i picked boston and what do you know,downloaded dying light at 8.4MB solid.

So if you have slow download speed try setting it to any other country.

I'm having trouble with steam downloads today. Getting the error 'invalid depot config'

Seems to be a few ways of fixing from what I've googled so going to try and sort it in a minute.

Had that on Space Engineers, restarting the PC fixed it.

This seems like the going thing. When one of Steams servers is overloaded, things grind to a halt. Change servers to somewhere abroad and things sort themselves out. Maybe because the other server has less traffic.

I did suffer form some downloading slowness last night but it was fine this morning.

Steam has been acting a little goofy lately..

Steam halloween sale has hammered bandwidth in Europe right now its double US bandwidth :eek:

yesterday it was around the same level just under 1Tbps all evening :eek:

I have been having the same issues trying to download metal gear today, Started the DL at 1400 and as of now it is at 10.5gb out of 20.5 gb downloaded.

It seems to be an ongoing issue with Steam. I've had this on/off for the last month at least.

Well I did as others have said moved it to Sweden and it sped up a bit but still not what I would have expected

Same here, I just moved it to the Ukraine and it was all good again at 9 MB... Had this exact issue on Launch night for GTA.... Volume was the issue then...

just had to change to ukraine from london , much much better.

Really slow for me, getting 180kbs download, when normally 4meg.
