Steam Summer sale - 19-30th June

And by all accounts, they're totally overpriced and unfinished. I've never seen an item with so many "not recommended" reviews. :D

wow, I never scrolled that far but yeah, 900+ hours and they all voting not recommended.

Was about to say the same thing.
Lots of people and spent hundreds, even thousands of hours on it and gave a bad review.

The whole idea of the DLC is to pick and choose what you want. Say you have an interest in British steam era, then you pick routes and trains matching that (if you can afford it of course).

Honestly though, the offerings from RailSimulator/Dovetail Games are a bit **** at times. Key thing is to look at who developed the add-on. A lot of add-ons are done through a partner program where they made it for RSC/DTG, and generally are better than the in-house offerings.

On top of that, you have tons of third party developers making locos and routes that can be easily put into the game and come with advanced particle effects and scriptiong etc.

Best thing to do with anything on the Steam store related to Train Simulator is wait until a sale.

La noire
Bioshock 1,2,3
Darksiders 2
Age of empires 2
Dishonoured
Fallout New Vegas complete
How to survive
Spec ops the line
Supreme commander 2
Trine 2

£35 - pleased with that :)

I've got this and although not perfect tbh it's the best game available in it's type. The base game only cost me 49p via groupees :D. Majority of the bad reviews are from people I'd class as 'rivet counters'. Users who've paid full price for the latest addon and then pick over every last detail looking for faults the average joe wouldn't know existed.
As just someone who likes to see what it's like to drive trains you'd not know whether train x has the wrong engine/door sounds, pulls away too fast or whether the brakes react unrealistically.
The dlc is priced ott though and so I only buy when on sale, it's not like you need the dlc to compete online like COD maps etc. There's plenty of free stuff available via the community and sites like uktrainsim.

Picked up dark souls yesterday. Not sure when I'll actually have the time to play it though.

Yeah, definitely worth the money. I would highly recommend doing 1 and 2 before Infinite. Can't really say any reasons for spoilers, but if you want the full experience do the first two games :)

Grr, just made me buy the triple pack on top of Infinite (bought in April but not played through yet) so I can do them in order!

I always like to get out the popcorn when a new loco gets released and all of the rivet counters come out of the woodwork on UKTS/Facebook. Entertaining reading seeing how worked up they get over it.

I couldn't give a toss myself, I play it for the 'feel' of the steam era.

Just after a bit of a recommendation, I'd like to get another FPS but can't decide between:

Shadow Warrior
Dishonored
Borderlands 2 (possibly GOTY pack)
Nether

I don't have much time to invest in a game with a lot of narrative and don't have the time/patience with puzzles and the like - I just want to be able to jump in/out of game and kill lots of stuff. Thanks!

Picked up EU4 a few months ago on GMG (75% off + 20% discount code + Quidco= bargain) so grabbed the first expansion pack yesterday.
Finally got round to playing it (Never played the others but have EU3) and wondering through the tutorial.
Seems a bit esier to grasp then Crusader Kings 2 (never got past the tutorial, will ty again one day) with a mix of Civ and AoE thrown in.
First impressions: More please.

In other news: latest community vote is predictable winner, gamers bury their heads in hands

Quick question, if I buy a game during the sale period can I download it at a later date? Or does it need to be paid for & downloaded as one operation at the time of purchase?

Considering that Dishonored leans towards stealth and that people seem to have trouble getting Nether to even run properly you really have a list of two - Shadow Warrior or Borderlands 2.

Borderlands 2 is a lot of fun, I haven't played Shadow Warrior personally but I'm sure many would say the same for that. It may be better for quick bursts of killing stuff but I'm not sure. Why not watch some youtube gameplay videos and make your choice?

You can download/install/uninstall an unlimited number of times at any time of your choosing.

Shadow Warrior!

BL2 has a lot of loot and if you are a loot whore then you have to do a lot of grinding for it, I liked BL1 better than 2. And it's a really long game.

Shadow Warrior is more of a "jump in/out of game and kill lots of stuff" type of game. FC3 Blood Dragon is another good one.

Dishonored would be my choice.
