Stalker is more like Deus Ex (original) than Fallout in terms of combat. Same explore the world, do quest for this and that guy gameplay though.

It seems to be with most ATI cards, runs terrible on my i5 [email protected] and my 5870 on medium yet my brother can run it fine on an i7 920 @ stock and a GTS 250 at medium.

That is the thing, I wouldn't mind lowish fps. It is the stutter that makes it pretty much unplayable. At least I didn't pay full price, and I might eventually find a solution!

If you like fps / rpg's, definitely. Make sure you mod them. The 'complete' mods are the best to start off with.
