Steam Summer Sale

I've tried using cheap pads but the 360 pad for PC has been a real revelation in comparison. At £20 from most places you really can't make a better investment.

I'd also reccomend getting a decent control-pad program... I've run into a few games where the controller support has been awful (Assassin's Creed II springs to mind, and Star Wars: Force Unleashed)... For those games I ended up binding the pad-controls to keyboard macros using a program called "Pinnacle Game Profiler" - the full version was pretty cheap and totally worth the money - I highly reccomend it.

As an added bonus you can also set it up so that when not in-game the analog stick controls the mouse pointer and A and B are left + right click, allowing you to control your PC fully if you aren't sat right at your desk - used to come in real handy back when I used to use my TV as a second monitor for racing games sat on the sofa (sadly the two are on completely different floors now!)

That sounds freaking awesome tbh. Then I can plug my PC into my TV and just use my 360 control pad for everything. I would then have a steam box :p

As long as its wired it just plugs and plays, wouldnt game without one now.

Really? I might just head to ole game stop later and pick on up then. Is it just a normal USB connection? so I buy a normal wired 360 pad and it just works?

Will be great. I can finally play some Castle Crashers without ranging at my keyboard. :P

No impulse buys over £3,
No early access games cause im not paying for something thats not finished,
No games ive already finished on Xbox but "could look nice" on PC,
No MP games that have no players playing them and are 20 odd years old,
No "cool Indie games" ive never heard of,
No games of types i never play but want to take a look (looking at you DCS A10),

Bought a few £3 and abit games so failed but not a lot spo ill call it a draw
Bought kerbal but avoided the other early access games, so failed point but only just.
Bought Tomb Raider and Farcry 3 so failed that in a big way.
Didnt buy any old MP games so was a win there.
Yeah least said about inde games the better... FAILED
Bought Wargame as my "but i dont play RTS's" so FAILED there as well.

All bought from my mobile phone as i was offline till lastnight when i downloaded over 70gb from steam on booting up my PC when i got home.

Its dangerous buying games on a phone as you dont realise how many you have and im never going to catch up with some of these.

Is Rage any good on the PC? Played it a little bit on the 360, actually enjoyed it a bit. But lost interest for no reason.

I heard the graphics are not adjustable? Is this still the case?

Anyone comment on whether Starforge Alpha is a turkey or a good game?
Its got potential :)

You have to keep telling yourself that it will get better, at the moment it is very alpha. Needs performance optimisation too.

If you don't mind paying for something thats in a very far from finished state thats got potential to be a great game when finished then you should perhaps buy it.

£25 spent overall

AOE2/3
Postal 2
Shogun total war 2 dlc
Dragonblood skyrim dlc

Decent return of things I will enjoy playing without going overboard.

Still no idea what the trading cards are for

Yep, just make sure it's a standard wired one.

You can get wireless ones but you know, hassle. :o

I hear you Tazz, I just want to plug and play and having to deal with a wireless receiver on my laptop and still only sitting in front of it is more hassle. :P

Another good reason not to use the wireless version is the receiver is incredibly poorly constructed - mine developed a fault during a period where the room it was in got very warm and it just stopped working... At the time I had a good read around and it seems like broken receivers are a common issue... Luckily I was able to trade the controller itself in towards the cost of a proper wired one

It's pretty good, although can sometimes be slightly tricky if you sit quite far from the TV as you most likely won't be able to read the text on anything very well. Still for me it was okay as I mostly used it for games anyway. For web browsing you could setup the zoom +/- in your web-browser to be LB and RB or something to help a little
