I'm now of the opinion it will not start today, I don't think they would put up the trading card notice on the storefront for 24 hours or less as I'm quite sure it won't stay in it's prominent position over the sale.
More likely they will run the trading card headline for a week and start the sale next week.
Hope I'm wrong though. Valve do a good job of whipping us all into a pre-sales frenzy.

This is exactly it , Valve has everyones wallet almost bursting open with excitement , the build up is massive then we all end up buying games we dont need or sometimes even play haha

That's how it always goes. I bought the entire X/Xtension series, id pack, commando series and more mostly because of nostalgia and wanting to have them again.
Barely touched any of them though.
Lately, because of limited SSD space I also play a game and then uninstall it. Unless there's an expansion or DLC I really want for it in a short amount of time.
ALSO, I have never played Half Life 2 Episode 2 yet...

I have filled up a 1TB drive with installed games, when I want to play them. I just move them over to my SSD haha, steam mover program does the trick perfectly

I didn't actually buy that much in the last sale, mainly because it was badly timed for me and I had spent all of my money and was completely skint...

L4D 2 £3 (Left for dead always goes on sale)
Sniper elite 2 £7
The walking dead duno mabye £10
Dead island (£4)
Infestation survivor stories (though it has a credit system which im not keen on!) Would need to be a £5 job to make up for that!
But im still debating whether to just buy a ps3 for Last of us!
