Steam UI Update

I get the feeling it wil be for peggle, plants vs zombies and other "casual" games rather than big name ones.

Postal 3, which is being developed on the Source Engine, is billed as coming to OS X in a number of different interviews and on wikipedia.

They could just be using cider though, like EA games do.

Everything working ok for me so, MW2 didn't need to be re downloaded and connects to games fine.

I really like the new UI, Valve just keep on giving.

just installed the new gui. looks pretty good, maybe a bit to much empty space & big fonts. but it's clean. on the grid view, pressing view details on a game switches you to the details view. which is kind of annoying, a popup with info would be better.

dod:s,ep1,ep2 and tf2 all want to update, but just paused them at it's actually paused (wooooo)

Downloaded some games with it last night, was downloading 6/7 games at once and it didn't crash like the other steam client would.

Ended up going though 50GB of bandwidth.

I had to use backups of MW2 and Company of heroes in the end or i was facing 5gig of downloads, Its wierd because there was nothing wrong with the file, New steam just wanted to re download stuff,
Other than that i like it so far :D

About time they updated it. I like the new look - everything seems to be more accessible.

Anybody else have a few of their fully downloaded games go to 99%, then update back to 100%?

I do wish they would add a feature to ask where you would like to install game though, The size of some of these new games is getting obscene,
the "mklink" trick still works ok with the beta in the meantime

The library system is a vast vast improvement. Really looks good now. The store also feels a lot snappier: obviously a lot of code optimisation and really working IE rendering engine. Perhaps they moved from IE6 to IE7

EDIT: In fact they have removed the IE screenshot window popup by including it in the store, very nice.

Someone may have already noted - it uses WebKit for rendering (thank goodness).

Apart from the more modern look, I'm not really a fan of new UI. It feels clunky and overly complicated, I don't like the new games library, and the store seems to be taking an age to load new pages.

I'll stick with it for a few days at least, though, rather than just dismissing it on the basis that it's something new and I'm not used to it.

Get posting on the feedback threads (top right corner of steam for link) it is a beta after all and if everyone ditches it there will be no feedback for them,

The oversized menu is starting to get to me too, hopefully they can refine it with some community input!
