Steam UI Update

I quite like it - it actually fixed my upside down problem with Chronicles of Riddick introduced in the latest Steam Update.

I like the big icons for the games - makes picking them easier for me.

I liked the look of the UI but had to go back to the non-Beta. For me Modern Warfare 2 wanted to download again and I tried what Tefal said, to pause it and unpause several times and it should be ready to play, which didn't work. When MW2 finally re-downloaded I kept getting an error and the game wouldn't launch so after a quick Google I was led to believe I needed to verify the file integrity which I did and then Steam came up with a bunch of errors with the MW2 files and told me I'd need to download an extra 5GB of them...

Very annoying when you're only downloading at 390KBps so I exited the Beta, re-downloaded MW2 through the stable release and now everything is fine again. Congrats to Steam for giving the new UI out on Beta for everyone to try and it seems for a lot of people it's working fine but sadly for me it didn't. Beside the problem with MW2 I had constant freezing of Steam, slowdown, friends not showing in my friends list, or showing that they were last online 20 hours ago when I was actually speaking to them less than an hour ago.

Nice and pretty, but not useable for me at the moment so I'll wait for a stable release. :)

I like that it doesn't use Internet Explorer, something I don't have so I couldn't use the community features.

I don't like the lack of a compact games list. Hopefully they will listen to peoples outroar and include one.

Am I the only one that likes my games list as out of the way as possible?

Me too. Whilst I welcome the new features, I wish the old List view was still an option, as I'd rather the client took up a tenth of my screen than half of it.

I just think a small window suited the old client better and a maximised window is needed for the new client.

I any case, I close the window when I'm not using it but would just like it to open maximised when I want it.

Um doesn't it use IE7 to 'run in'?

They have scrapped it all together. Wouldn't make sense to use IE and webkit.

I've waited a long time for this and webkit really does make a huge difference.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. No more having to login to steamcommunity.com to access my profile.

It's a shame games like Counter-Strike still use Internet Explorer for the server page (it minimizes the game for me, slight annoyance).

I'd imagine all the source-based games will be updated to webkit at some point.
