Steam UI Update

It does have some nice features randomly telling you what friends bought or want and the detailed section is great for telling you who has games

Though i agree with Tefal in that i rarely need to open it. Unfortunately the right click menu doesn't show all the games i've played recently so theres always some occasion to.

I don't really give two hoots about the new UI. I run Steam, see my list of games.... And *shock horror* click on one to run it...

I don't really care what the colours are, or how many things are whiz banging around the application...

Personally I don't:-
a) See why people are getting annoyed at the new interface.
b) See why people are getting excited at the new interface.

A lot of people get off on the Steam UI - did you not know that? :p

People get annoyed because you've finally worked out where everything is and then they change it to add some new features you don't use.

To me the new UI just looks cluttered. I only use the store and the games list though so I suppose what they look like doesn't make much difference.

I much preferred the old games list, simple icons and game title.
Gotta get used to the new List icons now, which are nowhere near as distinctive.
Small mode is the best option, but still not as good!

My pre-loaded games seem to have disappeared from my list, any way to show them again?

On top left-ish of the games list, there is a drop down to filter what is shown. Change it from installed to all games (I think), pre loaded stuff should now show.

This is good and annoying at the same time, I have it showing only installed games to reduce clutter, but when I buy a new game I have to show all, find the game, install it and then set my list back to installed only. Installed should show recently purchased or something

The drop down menus when trying to search for games to buy dont work for me, and Im not sure about the new games list - if you own more than 50 games the current list gets a bit crowded compared to the old one.

Like the design, Im sure Ill get used to it - I dont sit looking at steam long enough to care either way tbh.

Been using betaUI since the beginning, hated it @ first, like most people I'm not a fan of change, but knowing this was eventually going to be pushed upon us I decided to keep the betaUI selected and now I'm glad I did because I don't even think about it any more as I've grown accustom to it as I'm sure many nay sayers on here will do.

affect game performance?? maybe if you're running on 256mb ram it might :) It probably uses more resources because it feels a lot snappier (although could just be better code design)

I quite like the achivement comments when you look at your games in detail.

Mostly because of Left 4 Dead 2, So close.... "Sob Story" :D

Oh, strange. Seems i don't get it in detailed view anymore either. I know it shows it in the steam overlay when i'm in L4D2 though.

Speaking of achievements... i wish Valve would put them on Half Life 2 + Episode One, i'm sure they said they were looking into it years ago but never did. Would give me a reason to give em a playthrough again.
