Sorry for bump, but just to report Steam version still flakey. Actually purchased to replace my DVD version which was frequently crashing, in the hope that V3.0 had fixed this. Unfortunately still freezes on loading, either after the splash screen or exiting the building. Sometimes during a mission, too (very frustrating if it's one of the awkward ones). 1680 x 1050 steadies things up a bit and presumably maximum supported res despite 1920 appearing in the menu.

However even though it's now a very old game, would be nice to see Rockstar/Steam have one more go at sorting this out.

You'll need to do a bit of work to get the Steam version of GTA San Andreas to play like it should. Downgrade to 1.0 (adds removed music back in & widescreen support) and then the widescreen patch to fix the aspect ratio and you're good to go.

The Steam forums have a huge thread with all the stuff you need.

This is rubbish news

Considering it was part of the bonus for per ordering GTA V
I Understand the music issue but the res support is just nuts....
